Americans are souring on gun control.
According to a new poll from Convention of States Action and the Trafalgar Group, a full 84 percent of Americans say that strict gun laws in major cities are not effective in dealing with the current retail crime surge or are making it worse: 47.1 percent say making no difference in dealing with crime surge while 37.3 percent say making crime surge worse.
"The legacy media told Americans that ‘there’s nothing to see here’ as they witnessed scenes of looting, vandalism, and theft across the nation this holiday season. Voters see what’s going on, and clearly understand the causes. As strict gun laws in blue cities continue to restrict law-abiding citizens rather than criminals, the crime will continue to get worse,” said Mark Meckler, President of Convention of States Action. “That’s why so many people are voting with their feet and moving to places in the country with sane governance and a respect for the rule of law.”
Of course, the Biden administration would love nothing more than to nationalize the anti-gun regimes in these major American cities. Biden just announced a new regulation targeting gun stores, and he's voiced support for rifle bans, prohibiting private gun sales, and registration schemes.
Law-abiding Americans shouldn't be punished for the actions of criminals. The Second Amendment guarantees our right to keep and bear arms, but activist courts have tried to chip away at that guarantee. While the current makeup of the Supreme Court appears to favor gun rights, a change in that makeup could, with one decision, open the door for Biden's gun control agenda.
That's why the staunchest defenders of gun rights have thrown their weight behind the Convention of States Project.
Charles Cooper, one of the nation's foremost litigators for 2nd Amendment rights, spoke at the Convention of States Leadership Summit in 2019 about how a Convention of States can effectively and permanently defend gun rights from activist judges.
