1. Biometric security upgrades coming to an airport near you
The Transportation Security Administration is upgrading its surveillance tools to a whole new level. The agency has signed a $128 million contract to enhance airport security nationwide using biometric technology.
The new funds will be used over seven years to upgrade CAT to the second-generation system, a self-service model that requires users to position their faces in front of a camera for a biometric scan. The scan captures biographic data to face match one’s live image to their government-issued photo ID.
2. ‘We’re back’: Introducing Tucker Carlson’s new show
Much to the excitement of his many fans, Tucker Carlson announced Tuesday afternoon that a “new version of the show we’ve been doing for the past six and a half years” will soon be hosted on Twitter. He called the Elon Musk-owned social media company the last big [free speech platform] remaining in the world.”
3. Energized COS activists advance movement nationwide
Grassroots activism doesn’t always earn individuals a major spotlight but it’s where the true impact happens.
COS Illinois recently held its annual Surge Day in Springfield after preparing weeks in advance. The team prepped petitions for all 177 districts, wrote personal letters to deliver to each legislator, and stuffed informational packets with engaging literature.
4. Federal government cracks down on Catholic hospital’s religious liberty
The federal government is cracking down on a Catholic hospital in Oklahoma for the “use of lighted candles,” threatening a “correction process” if the hospital does not remove the sanctuary candle from its chapel.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, the hospital’s lighted candles, which have been in use since 1960, are in violation of a fire safety code.
5. DeSantis escalates war on Chinese Communist Party
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a vocal critic of the Chinese Communist Party, signed into law on Monday a package of bills that take aggressive action against the CCP.
Called “Stop CCP Influence,” the legislation consists of SB 264, SB 846, and SB 258, all of which were passed out of the Florida Legislature after DeSantis urged state lawmakers to “combat corporate espionage and higher education subterfuge carried out by the CCP and its agents.”
