Who am I? I'm pretty much like anyone else.
Why did I join the Convention of States grassroots army? Probably for all the same reasons you did...So, let's put our best work forward!
First, I joined Convention of States because I love America's unique founding and history. Our country is the only nation in the history of mankind that incorporated into its founding documents that the people have God-given rights, government must secure those rights, and limited the power of that same government in its scope of authority.
It is fascinating. It is powerful. And it is worth saving.
Second, I joined Convention of States because of America's potential. Because of our American exceptionalism, our founding documents laid the premise for the basis of human liberty, the eradication of slavery in our country, states' rights in the 10th Amendment, and checks and balances of our federal government. Everywhere throughout our government, there is protection for the individual against its government. Article V demonstrates that as well.
Our Founding Fathers communicated a great potential for future generations to continue in liberty, to continue our great experiment - but only if we are willing to work out that potential.
Finally, I joined the Convention of States movement for those future generations of Americans who will continue to live out America's great potential. I will raise my children to understand America's exceptional founding. Their continued liberty is only secured by their continued responsibility towards it. It is important for all of us to understand that.
A movement towards an actionable Article V convention demonstrates that responsibility in a very tangible way. Far too many Americans, young and old, are too complacent. And our liberty, states' rights, and a restrained federal government are not something found naturally in the wild. They are man-made, legal creations of law and order of a civilized society.
I would imagine these few sentiments are also shared by you. They are nothing extravagant. They are simply American. But being American is something worth fighting for. And Article V helps us in that fight.
Let us all put our best work forward to that end. After all, together is the only way we preserve our liberty.
