Montana needs you--It is our country to SAVE

Published in Blog on August 25, 2024 by Eric Knutson

I have written several articles regarding Article V Conventions and has successfully "debunked" whatever "negative claims' people have thrown at him regarding the "dangers" of holding an Article V Convention.

My last post in support of Convention of States got none of the typical claims about runaway conventions, maybe because it successfully debunked all the mythical claims about the Framers "exceeding their commissions", but I've got a new one.

A Facebook friend told me our battle cry is 2 Chronicles 7:14, and not Article V. I have no desire to denigrate anyone who uses that verse, and I post it occasionally myself, but there's a definite context to it, and that will be addressed.

First, though, a brief argument as to why we need an Article V Convention, and the COS Resolution fills the bill as to what can be proposed to amend our Constitution. We are Constitutionally allowed to petition our State Legislatures to do this.
An Article V Convention of the States is the only thing that will rein in an abusive Washington DC. Amendments to the US Constitution can be proposed either by 2/3 of both chambers of Congress, or by the States when 2/3 of the Legislatures apply for a Convention. In either case, ratification requires at least 3/4 of the States.

President Trump will be fantastic, assuming he doesn't get assassinated before November, but then he'll be gone after his second term. We've seen what he can do, and we've also seen, in spades, what happens when he's gone. After Trump's second term he won't be eligible to run again.

The only permanent solution to Federal abuse has to come from we the people, and the US Constitution provides the process for that to be accomplished. Upon the application of 2/3 of the State Legislatures, Congress SHALL call a Convention (of the States) to propose amendments. That's a MANDATE to Congress, and Congress has NO POWER WHATSOEVER over the proposals, and no power over ratification, even when Congress does the proposing. The Framers knew Congress would become abusive, and they gave us the States option to bypass Congress and amend the Constitution, should that happen. The Bill of Rights is an example of explicit prohibitions that the Antifederalists insisted on. There have been hundreds of applications over the decades for various amendments, but only a few got close to the 2/3 threshold, and when that happened, Congress cared for them before having to call a Convention.

Today, the grassroots organization Convention of State's Resolution is to propose amendments to limit the Federal Government in three areas, term limits, power and jurisdiction, and fiscal restraints. All State Legislature applications must follow the COS Resolution. No wiggle room. Of the 34 States needed for a Convention, we have 19, as of August 2024. The State Legislatures apply after hearing from enough of their constituents via a computer generated email when anyone signs the COS petition.  The COS website is available to anyone, and is provided at the end.

Hoping for enough honest politicians in Washington is no longer an option.

Now to address the Bible verse.
2 Chronicles says, "…if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land".

Professing Christians seem to think this is a solution, and it's from the Bible, and it sounds good, but right off the bat, it was a promise given to King Solomon concerning the Old Testament Israelites. It was given long before Jesus fulfilled the Law and the Prophets, long before there was a United States, and long before the apocolyptic writings, most notably Revelation, but including Daniel and some New Testament writings by Paul. Not only that, in hindsight, we know what God has told us will happen in the end times, and most of us think we're very close. So are you going to tell me the Pelosi's and Schumers and Bidens and Kamalas and Iranian Mullahs and the Communists are God's people? That should get your attention. What I'm saying is that 2 Chronicles 7:14 is taken way out of context. It was arguably fulfilled under the reign of Rehoboam, but the Egyptians still took plunder from Jerusalem. Why would it be some kind of battle cry for Americans when we have Article V? The Old Testament Hebrews still had to fight their battles, and we have to fight ours.

To her credit, when the Facebook friend mentioned the difference between a republic and a democracy, I questioned what's the point? She said, "America was established as a Republic. Point is: know the difference between Republic and a democracy. According to our founding fathers, a Republic is only good for righteous and moral people. So, our battle cry is 2 Chronicles 7:14. You didn’t ask me about racing in Daytona. Do you watch golf?" Again, our Washington crooks are not righteous and moral, so can I reasonably intercede for them? We try, but I doubt it would work at the point we're at.

Finally, we have to take action instead of depending on President Trump to do what it's up to us to do.

All you have to do is sign a petition.
Enough said.
