Meet John Dahmen, COS Virginia's New State Director

Published in Blog on March 09, 2022 by Laurie Wheeler

Have you heard the news? John Dahmen has recently stepped up as State Director for COS Virginia!

In 2016 John first heard of COS on a Mark Levin radio program. He was so inspired that he served as District Captain of House District 54, then stepped up to serve as Regional Captain of the Piedmont Region.

During that time John has grown the grassroots in his area by organizing events at various venues that would allow him to meet Virginians to tell them the good news of how we can use Article V of the Constitution to rein in the federal government.

John has also grown a volunteer team in his area to help him spread the news of Convention of States to other Virginians and even state legislators to encourage them to support our COS resolution.

For all his volunteer work he was awarded the coveted limited edition George Mason Challenge Coin.

Now he is thrilled that he can devote more time to the cause of self-governance by stepping up to the position of State Director.

What inspires him to do all of this volunteer work?

It is for my children and grandchildren that I commit my time and energy to COS. I do not want my grandchildren saying that their grandfather did nothing to promote our Constitution and its fundamental rights. I pray that they may know a United States of America that honors the Constitution - a government of the people, by the people, for the people.

In fact, John is so committed to both COS and family, that he even got his son involved! Read all about the Father-Son Teamwork at the link.

John is excited and optimistic that Virginia will be adding its name to the States who have already called for an Article V Convention of States.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
