Meet Hayley Ross, COSA Miami Dade County

Published in Blog on July 30, 2024 by Cynthia Kisby

COS is blessed to have many energetic and enthusiastic volunteers. In turn, retirement is a blessing that allows our volunteers to follow their passion.

Hayley Ross is just one example of a dedicated volunteer who can’t sit still when she sees an obvious need. After retiring in 2015, Hayley shifted her energy to serve as guardian ad litem in Miami Dade County and in 2019 she joined COS as a volunteer activist and tele-patriot.

With more than twenty-five years as a teacher, and a mother whose children attended public schools, Hayley pursues a personal interest in maintaining common sense in school curricula and administration. Her focus has never moved too far from children and parent’s rights in education.

“I think all children should experience joy when they go to school.”

Hayley believes in constitutional instruction, understanding of how our government functions, and she would love to see a citizenship test as requirement for high school graduation.

Without diminishing the significance of American citizenship and the value of assimilation, Hayley and Doug both supported the COSA Florida initiative to make Spanish language materials available. The purpose of providing translations of our Pocket Guide and other flyers is to increase awareness of the COS message to all of our citizens.

Hayley may have been slightly influenced by her husband Doug who, it turns out, is her COS District Captain. Together they have made over 500 tele-patriot calls in support of COSA projects. Doug also is a great letter writer.

Convention of States exists to educate everyone about the founding principles of our republic. We believe that it is essential to maintain separation of powers between the state and federal governments, as well as between the judicial, congressional, and executive branches. We believe that fiscal restraint must be exercised soon, or the national finances will tip into a downward spiral that will be painful to correct.

Hayley and Doug are great role models for citizen activists. Our founders intended that We the People should protect and defend our constitution. We appreciate those who are willing to Sign Up, Speak Up, and Step Up.

Why not join us today?

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
