I would like to introduce myself and let you know a little bit about why I volunteered for Convention of States.
My name is Bill. Three years ago I built a retirement home here in central Virginia. For the prior 70 years I was a resident of New Jersey.
I am a husband, father, USAF veteran, electrical engineer, small business owner, ASTM fellow, and temperature sensor expert. I’ve also been a truck driver, longshoreman, medical technician, avid golfer, USSF referee, and soccer coach at various times in my past.
Obviously, I’ve had a few different jobs, titles, and interests in my adult life. Until recently, I never had an interest in political activism.
Naturally, I voted regularly, only to see my candidates often get clobbered in the polls.
“Better luck next time” didn’t always apply.
So I watched for years in silence as our federal government went off the rails.
It is now corrupted by big money and foreign interests. It also has apparently lost all focus on working for the citizens.
More and more our government policies have affected my business and my family. I began to wonder, how can this trajectory be changed, and what could I possibly do about it?
It became clear to me that our elected officials in Washington are not motivated to rein in the runaway spending, to reduce over-regulation of states and businesses, or to ever think of imposing term limits upon themselves.
They are living the good life and unlikely to vote for any change. Somehow we would have to make those changes.
While listening to a local talk radio station, I first became aware of the Convention of States Project.
I explored to learn more about Article V and discovered the genius of our Founding Fathers.
The solution for our current plight is right there in the Constitution, not only for today, but also for the future if we ever need it again.
The Convention of States option is a powerful tool. With it, We the People get an opportunity to bring our government back under control.
So I eagerly signed the Convention of States petition.
It also occurred to me that doing the same old things and expecting different results would not bring about the change I want.
It was time for me to stop being silent and to become a more active participant. Thus, I volunteered to become a Content Writer.
To all who are dissatisfied with the way our government is being run, I encourage you to take the first step and sign the COS petition. Please, if at all possible, consider becoming a volunteer too.
All of us working together can make this happen.
