On Saturday, May 25, members of the Convention of States New Jersey team gathered to meet "The Great One" Mark Levin. Mark was promoting his new book Unfreedom of the Press at a bookstore in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
Immediately upon hearing about it, I knew I would attend this event. I admire the honesty and knowledge of Mark Levin. State Director Jonathan Viaud realized that this would be an awesome opportunity for COS, as many of Mark's fans have heard him promote COS on his radio show or have read his 2013 bestseller The Liberty Amendments.
It did not take long for District Captain Gary Brenner, and FUT members Janet Hagen and Carlo Nardone to volunteer to bring petitions to the event. People started arriving early, but Gary was already on standby with a COS banner draped over his pickup truck.
Janet and Carlo showed up later and worked the line of "Levinites." With their passion for COS, they started racking up petition signatures at an extraordinary pace.
I watched and learned as Gary approached people and started conversations. Others in line could not help but listen. As Gary moved on, I stayed with the groups he had spoken with, continuing the discussion about the importance of our movement. It was incredible to see how receptive the crowd was to COS.
In total, 146 people signed the petition at this event, a record for the COS New Jersey team for a single-day event! Although Mr. Levin was not aware of our efforts outside the store, it was very clear by the reception we received that his open support of Convention of States helps our cause immensely.
You can help us too, by signing up to be a volunteer today!
