Last week, a Convention of States social media post was "fact checked" by USA Today and subsequently labeled as "misinformation" by Facebook.
This week, the Congressional Budget Office and the Wall Street Journal verified that Biden is, in fact, lying about the true cost of his signature "Build Back Better" (BBB) agenda.
The Wall Street Journal called it the "Lie of the Year."
According to the CBO and the WSJ, if the programs in BBB remain permanent--which they almost assuredly will--the true cost of the program far exceeds the White House's estimate. New analysis proves it will add over $3 trillion to the deficit over ten years, not "zero," as the White House keeps claiming.
The WSJ takes the child tax credit as an example:
Take the child allowance, which Democrats say will cost only $185 billion because it ends after one year. No one believes they won’t extend it next year, and the year after that, ad infinitum. CBO says the real cost over 10 years is $1.597 trillion. Democrats also peg their earned-income tax credit expansion at a cost of $13 billion because it too ends after one year. CBO says the real cost is $135 billion over 10 years.
An honest accounting of those two programs alone consumes $1.732 trillion, or nearly all of the $1.75 trillion that Sen. Joe Manchin has said is the most total new spending he’ll support over 10 years.
The Biden administration is playing financial games to trick the American people into supporting its agenda. To make matters worse, it's doing so at a time when we can't afford to spend more money. Inflation is as high as it's been in 40 years, and our country is already $30 trillion in debt.
Adding the BBB to this mix would slow the economy down even further and exacerbate the inflation that's already wreaking havoc on the middle class.
We can't rely on Washington to get our country back on track. We need to take matters into our own hands, and we can do it with a Convention of States.
An Article V Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments that would force the federal government to be fiscally responsible. These amendments could, for example, require a balanced budget every year except in cases of war. They could limit the topics on which Congress could spend money, prohibit the feds from raising taxes, or give the states more of a say in how Washington spends our money.
With this complete package of amendments in place, boondoggles like "Build Back Better" will be entirely off the table. Even better, Americans will be free to work, invest, and innovate to restore our economy to its former dominance and prosperity.
