Join the team in Tallahassee on March 27 or Rally at Home

Published in Blog on February 27, 2019 by Nancy Suits

It's soon time for us to head to Tally and make a presence to be a positive influence for Convention of States. This is why I'm asking you to be a part of this effort and join us in Tallahassee on March 27.

This is the link to register.

We will have a table set up with information to share, and we'd like you come and mingle and help distribute materials with all those who will be there enjoying the food and entertainment for Senior Day. You will also be encouraged to interact with the State House Representatives and Senators in the Capitol Building. Bring some volunteers along, too.

The COS Florida team will contact you to follow up and offer any assistance you may need in helping you to be a success as champions of COS.

By late March our state legislature will have spent several weeks in session, deliberating over bills, discussing them in committees, and making important decisions on behalf of Florida citizens, including you and me.

On March 27 the Florida's senior citizens are invited to attend Senior Day at the capitol. COS Florida leaders plan to be there!

A number of COS supporters and volunteers happen to be seniors, which makes sense, given that many are retirees who are looking for worthy causes on which to spend their free time. We encourage you to attend this upcoming gathering to bring more awareness of the Article V Convention of States process.

More Florida citizens need to be aware that they hold the power to influence our state legislature to continue its support and work toward preparing for this inevitable momentous historic event.

The Sunshine State is huge! If this trip is not feasible for you, we understand. Given that Florida is such a large state and for many districts in southern Florida it is such a long drive to Tallahassee, the logistics of making that trip in one day is a major challenge. However, there is something you could do that may have an even bigger impact for COS right there in your own district: organize a Homefront Rally!

HOW to HOST YOUR HOMEFRONT RALLY

1. Reach out to your volunteers and let them know that COS leadership is holding an event in the capitol on March 27 and that you are organizing a Homefront Rally for those in support of COS back home.

You can use the email blasting tool in CitizenBuilder. If you need help using the tool to send the blast, let me know. In your email to your district, ask for volunteers to help you plan, organize, and promote your Homefront Rally.

2. Have your volunteers help you choose a time and place to have your rally. It could be at a restaurant banquet room, a church fellowship hall, or even your local town hall or community center.

You may find volunteer helpers who would be willing to host rally’s in other towns in your district. Make plans to have food and refreshments, if desired (I'm not aware of any time that food and refreshment is not desired) and designate volunteers to handle that.

3.  Get as many COS supporters and volunteers together as you can. Ask our state comms team to help promote your Homefront Rally on social media and your volunteers to hand out flyers. Designate a contact person who would be willing to manage an RSVP and reminder list. Our events coordination team will be happy to help them.

DURING YOUR HOMEFRONT RALLY

4. At the rally, share information on what has been happening both here in our state and nationwide in our efforts to save our nation through an Article V Convention of States. We will provide an up to date report for you to relay.

Spend time discussing how an Article V COS will help to put the federal government back in its box and raise awareness for the need of more self-governance and citizen involvement in how our country is run.

5. At some point during the rally, you or someone can take a short video of all those present. Have a designated host introduce your crowd as COS supporters who are all asking your State House Representative and Senator to support Convention of States.

Give the video a nice "crescendo" by turning the camera on the crowd and having them all shout in unison, on queue, "Please support Convention of States!"

AFTER YOUR HOMEFRONT RALLY

6. That video must be produced at your rally on or prior to the March 27 event and given to one of the Tallahassee event attendees to share with your legislator. They will then try to take a video of your Representative or Senator watching your brief video to get their reaction.

If there are enough tech-savvy attendees and your event is on the same day as the Senior Day event, we can even try to pull off some real time video encounters like Facebook live. That would take some strategic planning, but it may be worth trying just for the sake of making a memorable impact on your legislator.

7. Share your event on your district's very own web page provided on www.conventionofstates.com and use that news to encourage plans for future rallies. You may use the talent of our creative writers to report on your success. Just ask.

The COS Florida State Leadership team will be contacting you to follow up and offer any assistance you may need in helping your district be a success as champions of COS!

I look forward to seeing and hearing about all the COS fellowship that is to come as we work to restore our nation.
