An interesting way to describe a dreadful situation.
The time has come again to re-awaken the “Sleeping Giant”. The Giant now is the American people! It’s time to stop the nonsense taking place in Washington.

Our federal deficit exceeds $34 Trillion, federal oversite and mandates from Washington keep pouring down on states, and members of Congress are ineffective in doing the work of the “Giants”. Stories of wasteful and ineffective government programs abound in the news.
We continue to elect officials in Washington who have been there for decades and have no idea what the challenges everyday Americans face. They love their power and enjoy the tremendous wealth they have accumulated for themselves being in power. The time has come to re-awaken the “Sleeping Giant” that resides in the American psyche and resolve to fix this mess.
It’s time to get behind the Convention of States. The Convention of States Action organization is working to call a Convention to amend the Constitution. There are 3 simple goals to this convention:
1) require fiscal restraints on federal spending
2) require term limits for House and Senate members
3) limit the power of the federal govt and return that power to the states
A Convention of the States for proposing amendments to the Constitution is permitted in Article 5 of the Constitution. The scope of such a Convention would be limited to only these 3 objectives (in this case since it is entirely possible for another Convention of States to be called at some future time).
To convene a Convention, two-thirds (34) of the states must pass resolutions in support of these objectives. Presently, nineteen (19) states have and more are on the way.

The founding fathers anticipated the need for an Article 5 type convention. Over time, it becomes inevitable that the power of a few will overtake the power of the many and Article 5 was their solution to this inevitability.
