On January 13, 2023, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced it had submitted the “Stabilizing Braces” final rule to further restrict accessories and devices for certain short-barreled rifles. You can read about the rule at the DOJ site.
Actually, what the rule says doesn’t matter. There is so much wrong with this action AND the continued path of our current administration.The Convention of States is our only hope.
You see, first of all, the Department of Justice doesn’t make laws. Only Congress has the ability to set laws in our Country. The Biden administration knows it cannot pass restrictive gun laws through Congress so instead, they direct one of the many Federal Agencies to execute their dirty work.
So why does Convention of States matter? Well in this case the Federal Government is getting a deal, like BOGO (Buy One Get One) at your local retailer.
First they attack your 2nd Amendment rights and individual freedoms of gun ownership and next they use the large bureaucratic Federal Agencies who work directly for the Executive Branch.
The President’s Federal Agency works around Congress to make a “rule” to direct how that agency functions, in this example, it means you will be arrested by one of the other many Agencies (FBI, ATF, etc) if you are found to possess specific gun accessories. Actions like this are a direct threat to both our rights as individuals and a threat to the very threads of the intended purpose of the Constitution which was meant to protect the people from the government.
Convention of States is the solution because it is the only recourse for We the People to stop the Federal Government incursion into our lives. It is even more important now, than it has ever been.
