Israeli conflict major inflection point for multicultural America

Published in Blog on October 17, 2023 by Jakob Fay

“Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it,” states the Hamas Covenant of 1988.

“Our struggle against the Jews is very great and very serious…. [Hamas] is but one squadron that should be supported by more and more squadrons from this vast Arab and Islamic world, until the enemy is vanquished….”

"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.”

“There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors.”

These are the words that underlie inescapably violent Hamas ideology. And whether or not they realize it, these are the words that every pro-Hamas activist in America or abroad currently stands behind.

They are worse than anti-Semetic. These words reek of the worst kind of anti-Semitism—charged by the same evil that fueled the fires of Auschwitz and the Clifford Tower massacre; an evil that will not settle for peace until an entire race has been wiped from the face of the planet; an evil that, if allowed to fester, will eventually set its sights on us, and attempt to annihilate us, too.

That’s what we are up against. And that’s what useless, but “enlightened,” idiots here in America have aligned themselves with. Why? The answer is, at least in part, because many of us are ashamed of our own culture. Ostensibly highbrow westerners have become proudly open-minded to almost all cultures (especially, for some reason, Islamic cultures)—except their own.

In his book “The Strange Death of Europe,” author Douglas Murray refers to what he calls the societal collapse of confidence—the state in which a nation grows tired of and apologetic for its own values—in the West’s case, the values that made it strong—while at the same time defending moral equivalence between all other human cultures.

Often, this idea confuses race for culture, a point Thomas Sowell makes in his 1994 classic, "Race and Culture." The argument says that because it would be wrong to assume that racial Group A is fundamentally better than racial Group B, it would be equally wrong—indeed, racist—to assert that racial Group A produced a fundamentally superior culture to racial Group B. In fact, this idea denies the very existence of “superior” cultures outright (although it also harbors a sense of regret for its own culture, which, of course, suggests that its own culture is inferior).

There is no greater proof that America suffers from a serious case of collapsing confidence than that on the same day many westerners rushed to defend Palestine—only two days after Hamas launched an unprovoked attack against Israel—many of those same people also took to social media to apologize for Christopher Columbus. I do not have time to defend (or disparage) Columbus, but in this one example, can we not see Americans’ deep shame at our past? They’d rather delve 500 years into the past in search of an object of condemnation than speak a word against an organization explicitly committed to “killing the Jews.”

Americans—specifically left-leaning Americans—must ask themselves objectively: which culture has resulted in more freedom, stability, prosperity, and liberality over the past six decades? American or Islamic? Israeli or Islamic? The answer seems obvious. And those on the streets mindlessly cheering Hamas or opposing Israel would quickly change their tune if subjected to Islamic culture for a day. Tragically, the murdering of Jews doesn’t seem to concern them. But believe me—when Hamas bans their precious Pride Flags, enforces hijab, and beats women who fail to comply, even the most open-minded, liberal activists will reconsider their positions. They will suddenly pine for western culture again.

But for now, in our enlightened, multicultural stupor, we have missed a fundamental truth—all cultures are not created equal. That’s not close-minded. It’s not even nationalistic. Now, more than ever, we see that is simply a fact.

America is not perfect. Neither is Israel. But neither America nor Israel endorse Jihad, murder, or the “obliterating” of an entire race in their founding charters. Neither Americans nor Israelis just sent soldiers marauding through villages, slaughtering innocents, and massacring babies out of nothing but sheer spite. Only Hamas has done that.

To be clear, Hamas cowers in hospitals, schools, and mosques, shielding weapons and terrorists behind civilians. Hamas wants Palestinians dead. Israel has developed a non-lethal bomb to warn would-be casualties of impending attacks, a process known as a preliminary roof-knocking strike. Israel has been known to use “telephone calls and leaflets to tell occupants to leave” before bombing or shelling a public building. Israel officially called for “the people of Gaza to evacuate… for their safety,” insisting that “our war is not with the people of Gaza.” On the other hand, Hamas built roadblocks, preventing civilians from fleeing. According to one resident of Gaza, Hamas is literally stealing civilians’ car keys in their desperation to trap them in a war zone—their determination to get them killed. So, yes, Hamas wants Palestinians dead.

Ask yourself: is this a picture of two morally equivalent cultures? Are Hamas and Israel equally at fault? It really is not that complicated. Anyone who answers “yes”—anyone who, in the name of multiculturalism, is out there defending terrorists—has been hopelessly blinded by the lies of our “magnanimous” age. And one day soon, if we do not break free from those lies, America will stand face to face with the same evil that now confronts Israel—the same evil that aims to destroy us, too—and learn the truth the hard way.
