WATCH THE VIDEO

Our Back to Basics campaign focuses on just how easy it is to practice your civic duty. The basics of Maryland civics was explained along with activities in the coming weeks leading up to the legislative session opening in Annapolis in early January 2022. For Maryland’s citizens, this is a key moment to act upon the responsibility of citizenship.

COS Maryland’s Article V Convention of States Resolution will be introduced in the House of Delegates and the Senate in 2022. We're preparing for our annual Convention of States Citizen Action Day in Annapolis which is another opportunity to exercise your rights and responsibilities as citizens. Legislators are invited to attend, and you will have the opportunity to let them hear your voice, face to face.

The Convention of States resolution is the only viable solution as big as the nation's problems. But this effort will only be successful if YOU make your voice heard. This is your opportunity to meet the COS Maryland team and learn more about our mission the basics of Maryland state civics.

For those in attendance, thank you. We appreciate your time and we look forward to volunteering with you. We hope you enjoyed your time with us and left more inspired to actively join the cause with fellow patriots.

Highlights from the webinar include:

  • State Information Administrator Bob Betz kicked off the meeting, describing the COS Maryland organization and the opening of the 2022 legislative session in Annapolis in January.
  • State Director Mike Rilee explained the Convention of States mission and the Back to Basics campaign. All levels of government are in need of repair that only We the People can provide.
"We gave Congress permission spend our money and limit our rights.  We own the problem. It's time to take that trust back...In the spirit of reclaiming our government, we are getting back to the basics of self governance to take responsibility and we may regain our self respect along the way."
  • Comms Team leader Gayle McCowan introduced the Back to Basics campaign and explained the difference between a resolution versus law.
  • State Legislative Liaison and Grassroots Coordinator Stephen Patten enlightened us all on the legislative process and Citizen Action Day. He described how the COS resolution will make its way through the House of Delegates and State Senate.
"It's a marathon. We're in this for the long haul because we believe our country is worth it."
  • Media Liaison Nichole Weakley announced the Back to Basics campaign focus on education towards school age students along with an essay contest.
  • State Director Mike Rilee closed the meeting assuring volunteers that COS Maryland has resources for learning about COS and our grassroots engagement. We need organizers and supporters in every district in Maryland. Just ask and we can help you get started saving the Constitution.
  • Act Now: contact your legislators and develop relationships through respectful phone, email, letter writing, and social media interactions.

Convention of States has the solution that is as big as the problem of an outsized runaway federal government that requires fiscal restraints and term limits for federal officials. Our goal is to help you find a way to personally take action to save our country.

Now is the time to stand up, speak up, and show up. You know that! That's why you took the next step. We're excited to have you on the COS Maryland team, and we're looking forward to sharing how to get Back to the Basics of Maryland civics.
