Tuesday, April 26: Convention of States Action Maryland hosted the final webinar in the Inspired to Action: Back to Basics campaign. It was the official wrap up event to the 2022 Legislative Session:
- State Media Liaison Nichole Weakley hosted the event.
- State Director Mike Rilee reviewed the successes of the 2022 Session beginning with the most well attended Citizen Action Day and included testimony to both the Maryland House of Delegates and the Senate.
- Legislative Liaison Steve Patten described how for the first time our Joint Resolution was co-sponsored by 5 Senators and 21 Delegates, led by Senator Justin Ready (D5) and Delegate Mark Fisher (D27C).
- Grassroots Coordinator Leslie Jenkins informed viewers of the myriad opportunities for volunteer roles such as District Captains, Content Writers, Social Media Warriors and TelePatriots...and Events Coordinators are needed! Leslie also emphasized the benefits of digging into COS University and the wealth of knowledge available to all volunteers.
Mike Rilee reminded attendees to thank your state legislators for their hard work, regardless of their position on the COS resolution. Forging personal relationships with your elected representatives is the best tool in persuading them to our cause.
In closing, Mike offered a a message of gratitude: Engage with others in kindness and with facts. We thrive where civility and civics meet.
My favorite part of my role (at Convention of States Action Maryland) is meeting all of you and seeing a way forward. Come along for the ride.
