Overriding Executive Orders the States Largely Do Not Want

Published in Blog on June 20, 2024 by Myrl Nisely

The recent Biden proposal shielding undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens from deportation is the latest example of Federal Government overreach. An estimated 500,000 immigrants will be kept in our country, regardless of their backgrounds, most of which are unknown. Americans have no opportunity to evaluate this concept, and they do not want it.

Once again, the Executive branch is legislating, rather than Congress doing so. This sort of policy making is slamming our country around in ways most Americans find offensive and disturbing.

But what if there were an amendment authorizing the states to disallow any Executive order or Federal legislation? It sure would be nice if the states had that power right now!

A non-profit, non-partisan grassroots organization called Convention of States Action (COS) is striving to pull together a state convention to consider Constitutional amendments that will stop this sort of unconstitutional freewheeling.

Provision for a convention of the states is built into Article V of the Constitution. COS seeks the convention to propose amendments in three areas: Impose Fiscal restraints on the Federal government, Limit the power and jurisdiction of the Federal government, and set term limits for Congress and all Federal offices.

An amendment addressing any one of these areas would promote the power of the state and put the Federal government where it belongs...out of our way. Our nation is being rapidly dismantled from the country as set up by our Founding Fathers. It is being taken into socialism, a failed concept everywhere it has been tried.

Americans, we urge you to become alert on how the Federal government is behaving and join the Constitutional effort to take corrective action. The government will never rein in itself. Go to www.conventionofstates.com for full information.
