The morning of January 6, 2021, I arrived in Washington, D.C., to have my voice heard and my vote counted. I was surrounded by nearly one million like-minded American patriots.
It was the largest crowd ever to enter D.C. In the end, the message was reduced to a nuisance.
Instead of hearing the demand for freedom and desire to save America’s future, it was labeled a riot. An insurrection.
I returned to Florida with a deep, dark depression that lasted weeks. I felt that Florida and other states would soon have their head laid to the chopping block.
I thought about starting a local organization with the intention of first saving Florida independently, with the hopes that other states would do the same and later unite. While the concept sounded great to most, the start-up alone was daunting and near impossible.
Then I found Convention of States. This is an organization that starts with people like you and me. We reach out to our neighbors, sheriffs, and county commissioners to educate them about Article V.
Our message has reached members of the Florida legislature and our governor. Florida has passed the resolution to send commissioners to an Article V convention for proposing term limits, fiscal restraints, and limits on federal power. We have 15 states now, and we need 34 states to hold the convention, according to Article V of the Constitution.
Washington, D.C., has become a corrupt entity that no longer represents the United States of America. It is a bloated tick which must be removed from our body of states. Like the human body, once removed, the states will replenish and prosper.
Moving forward, we must include a system of checks and balances which will prevent future “ticks” from latching onto our beautiful nation.
But don’t expect Congress to do it because we ask them nicely. We have to start locally. You’ve probably already had this conversation with your neighbors. That is a start! Probably the best example of a grassroots movement.
Next, go to your local and state representatives. Talk to them like you did to your neighbor, and you may find that they sincerely share your concerns.
We have to start local. D.C. is out of control, and We the People need to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. We want to fix Washington, once and for all.

Note: Convention of States Action does not condone the violent events of January 6, 2021.
