An effective and fun way of growing local interest in the Article V COS is to start a Freedom Pod. Ruth Hoskins, Grassroots Regional Captain SEPA, launched the idea last year. A Freedom Pod meets periodically, sometimes over coffee or lunch, to share information and discuss ways to preserve our freedoms through COSA PA participation. There’s plenty to discuss; unless you’ve just climbed out from under a rock, you know our freedoms are threatened more every day!
Freedom Pods can be any size. For example, Ruth reports that the first Freedom Pod (shown below) meets monthly in Plymouth Meeting, PA, at Church on the Mall and occasionally has up to 45 people.
The concept is catching on. In Ruth’s area (Southeastern PA, SEPA) a “Philly Freedom Pod” has taken root in the Philadelphia area. A third Freedom Pod in SEPA will start this October, with Delaware County and Chester County merging in a facility a pastor is allowing them to use to get the word out. A Bensalem Freedom Pod is now getting together as a coffee klatch. Pods are growing in the Western part of PA as well.
Recently, Lisa Moeser R4 and Jenni Holdren R3 collaborated to start a new Freedom Pod for their combined regions, and they’re expecting an eighth member soon. The Jenni has appropriately named it “Buzzing Patriots.”
