1984 – It was the year George Orwell predicted to be a dystopian nightmare of tyranny and oppression, where the brain-washed masses cowered in obedient fear before an all-powerful centralized government. Good thing it turned out to be fiction, right?
While the famous book missed the mark in its vision of the world 35 years from its publication in 1949, there was something that happened in that famous and ominous year of 1984. Something that every American should have taken as wisdom and warning of what was to come; that laid out the plans of America's enemies and how they intended to destroy this country.
A television interview.
Yuri Bezmenov was the Moscow-born son of a high-ranking army officer in the Soviet Union, which educated him in its most elite schools, and later put him to work in the official press agency and secret KGB front of the central government. Eventually, Yuri woke up to the destructive nature of communism and risked his life to come to the West in 1970.
Yuri was and still may be the leading authority on communist propaganda and disinformation, and in a 1984 TV interview, gave an all-too-familiar account of how the Marxists use psychological warfare to brainwash entire nations in just four easy steps.
Step 1: Demoralization.
Duration: 15-20 Years.
This occurs in one major place: Schools. Young, credulous Americans are exposed to Marxist theories and doctrine without them being counterbalanced by the Judeo-Christian principles of early America. The duration of two decades is how long it takes to fully indoctrinate three generations of students.
Yuri warned that in 1984, step one was not only done by Americans to Americans, but that the process was nearly complete.
"A person who is demoralized is unable to assess true information; the facts tell nothing to him...even if I take him by force to the Soviet Union and show him [the] concentration camp, he will refuse to believe it."
Step 2: Destabilization.
Duration: 2-5 years.
The instigator of this step, the subverter, does not care for the average consumer. His priorities are what is essential: economy, foreign relations, defense systems.
"In such sensitive areas as defense and economy, the influence of Marxist-Leninist ideas in the United States is absolutely fantastic."
Step 3: Crisis.
Duration: 6 weeks.
Bring the country to crisis, and with the crisis comes a violent change in power, structure, and economy.
Step 4: Normalization.
Duration: Indefinite
A Soviet propaganda term, normalization gives the people a false sense of security after the violent change of power, and promises them paradise on Earth.
Yuri concludes his account by saying the Leftist/Marxist professors and Civil Rights activists are essential in the first step, but once the new order has been established, they are no longer needed, and in fact, know too much. Many of the original instigators of communism in Russia either became disillusioned with the party or simply did not receive the power and utopia they were promised.
But despite all their efforts on behalf of the Communists, they were lined up against the wall and shot. This happened in Nicaragua, Grenada, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and everywhere Marxism comes to power.
"Every second, the time bomb is ticking. With every second, the disaster is coming closer and closer. Unlike myself, you will have nowhere to defect."
Anyone who has not yet been demoralized can look at the United States of America and see that this four-step plan is being carried out and has nearly reached completion. When asked what Americans can do to fight back, Yuri offered his own two-step plan.
Step One: There must be a strong national effort to educate people in the spirit of real patriotism and the great dangers of Socialist/Communist Marxism.
Step Two: Once at least part of the United States population is convinced that the danger is real, we must force the United States government to stop aiding communism.
Yuri's solution is nearly an exact description of the purpose of Convention of States Action, and he would have surely and whole-heartedly supported an Article V Convention of States.

Yuri Bezmenov passed away in 1993, but his forebodings have been carried on, as have thousands of others from those who survived the horrors of communism. Do not let their warnings be in vain. Join the Convention of States movement, and prevent the demoralization, destabilization, false normalization, and ultimate destruction of America.
