As Convention of States Action previously reported, Florida’s beloved Governor Ron DeSantis was elected for a second term in a landslide victory Tuesday night.
While the incumbent was expected to win, the final outcome was historic. Current numbers show that, with 95% of the vote in, DeSantis will win with 59.5% of the vote, beating Charlie Crist by nearly 20 points. In Miami-Dade county, a Democrat stronghold that has not voted red in a gubernatorial race in twenty years, DeSantis won by an astonishing 12 points. For reference, Hillary Clinton won the same country in 2016 by 29 points.
Shortly after his victory was announced, the popular governor took the stage and delivered a riveting speech. “Over these past four years,” he began, “we’ve seen major challenges for the people of our state, for the citizens of the United States, and above all for the cause of freedom. We saw freedom, and our very way of life, and so many other jurisdictions in this country wither on the vine; Florida held the line,” he proclaimed to an ecstatic crowd.
“We stood as a citadel of freedom for the people across this country and indeed, across the world,” he later added.
"We have embraced freedom. We have maintained law and order. We have protected the rights of parents. We have respected our taxpayers, and we reject woke ideology. We fight the woke in the legislature. We fight the woke in the schools. We fight the woke in the corporations. We will never ever surrender to the woke mob. Florida is where woke goes to die" he declared, before promising “I have only begun to fight.”

Voters supported DeSantis overwhelmingly because he refused to back down from the fights that actually mattered to them. The people of Florida truly feel that they have a governor who will fight for them–not woke interest groups, the media, or national government. Regardless of political party, we need more leaders like Ron DeSantis; leaders who will defend the freedoms of We the People no matter the cost.
