Convention of States North Carolina volunteers set up at the Gun Show in Fletcher on Saturday and Sunday (March 10-11) at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center.
The team obtained 131 new petition signatures.
Supporting the event were Regional Captain Glen Englram, District Captains Jeff Groh, Jeffrey Rash, and Amos Glaspy, and Volunteers Al Iosua and Eddie Herold.
The team was especially gratified by the number of young families who invested their time to learn about our efforts and signed the petition. These folks understand what Convention of States can mean to their children's future.
While it is commonly portrayed that millennials are not educated in what is happening to the country, we had the opportunity to engage with several articulate young people. They are very aware of the current state of America and want to do something about it.
On the other end of the age spectrum is Al Iosua, a volunteer in NC 113 who is enthusiastic and always willing to help, even at 78 years young! A retired radiologist and published author on philosophy, Al understands human nature and the inherent dangers of a large federal bureaucracy, and he loves to engage with anyone who will listen.
This is what our effort is really about: protecting the future for our children and subsequent generations. The experience of seeing so many young people who are engaged is energizing.
We also had the opportunity to remind North Carolina residents of the upcoming legislative session and stressed how important it is for them to reach out to their representatives to encourage them to support the Convention of States resolution.
The next Fletcher Gun Show is May 12-13. See you there!
