Federal Fritters

Published in Blog on March 21, 2023 by Robert Bonhag

Did you know how the Feds fritter away our money?

Introduction

I don’t know about you, but it just appears tragic how our representatives in Washington spend our money. To alert you to the craziness of spending in Washington, we will provide you with a weekly blog to let you see one fritter each week.

Marketing Russian Wine in Europe

Washington spent $50,400 to learn how Russia marketed its wine in Europe to befriend people in Europe. Senator James Lankford’s report in 2019 found that the National Endowments for the Humanities awarded a $50,400 dollar fellowship to a professor at Sonoma State University (a California public university) to study the Russian wine appeal and influence on Europeans. Yet, this study overlooked the potential appeal of California wines.

The same results could be done free by researching existing publications and with online surveys and interviews. Or by the wine industry in California to increase their European marketing.

Apparently, our foreign policy has already cost Americans billions and failed to help the Russian wine industry. So, could this funding be considered another way to help Russia? Is that what we want to do?

We agree that this $50,400 seems a scanty amount to waste and to report on. Yet, in the coming weeks, we will expose hundreds of billions of American dollars wasted by our federal government in ridiculous ventures.

Stay tuned to our Blogs to know more about how your government is frittering away your money!
