Fear In Our Gatherings

Published in Blog on October 25, 2022 by Gail Annette Soncrant

I want to find a new church – one where people aren’t afraid to talk about Jesus and aren’t afraid to talk about what’s going on in our nation’s capital or our state’s capitals or the nation’s streets and courts. One where people aren’t afraid to talk. Period.

I want to be part of a church that stands up for God’s Law. One where we are not told that “the church should keep its nose out of politics” if we speak in opposition to the current regime’s policies.

Indeed, it is supposed to be the other way around according to our constitution. The government is supposed to keep its nose out of church business.

This is not politics as we are accustomed to knowing it. This is survival, simply put.

Then I think if I am not here to speak out and remind them of the reason for the church, who will? Perhaps the knowledge of my reason for leaving may serve as a reminder.

Surely, God can raise up someone better equipped than I to speak with a voice that would be better heard; louder than mine; someone with more authority than me; someone people would listen to.

Where would I go?

I have questioned friends about how their pastors and congregations are handling the propaganda coming from elected and unelected officials these days. Repeatedly I hear, “Oh, we just don’t talk about those things.” Or I hear that they are also frustrated and looking.

Sometimes they tell me that if someone speaks up, they are told they are not being compassionate toward women who have a “right” to choose what happens to their own bodies, that they are ignoring the “right” of children to choose what gender they want to be, or that they are being hateful and must support those who think they have the “right” to sexual relations with any sex they choose.

To that I say...

Where is the compassion for the millions of babies who have been murdered, right up to and after the moment of birth?

Where is the compassion for all the women who have chosen abortion and spent the rest of their lives in sleepless nights -- regretting that choice?

Where is the compassion toward the children being coerced into body-altering procedures, without so much as telling, much less asking permission from their parents?

Where is the compassion for those who have gone through procedures and live today with regret?

Where is the compassion for those who have chosen a homosexual lifestyle and heartily wish every day for some way to be released from that trap?

Where is the compassion for all those who have been deceived and are deceiving others? Are we expected to support them all the way to hell?

And where is the compassion for our fellow Christians who simply want to be allowed once again to freely follow God’s direction and to do so without persecution by the people who are supposed to represent them? To do so without edicts from bishops, priests, district supervisors, and other officials telling us we must put up with this persecution even in the church that was instituted to bring life to God’s children.

If our churches are to survive – and we are to survive in our churches - we must somehow let each other know that we are not alone. We must build each other up and assure one another that we are still God’s children. We must show one another that there is a way to rescue our God-given constitution and God-given constitutional rights. We must hold our electors accountable through a Convention of States to:

Impose fiscal restraints on the federal government,
Limit its power and jurisdiction, and
Impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

It’s time to take a stand. Find a new church if you must. And join the Convention of States grassroots movement to bring back state rights (as they were intended.)

TAKE ACTION: Let your local representatives and senators know that you support a Convention of States by signing the petition. It’s up to our Michigan legislators to make this happen. They need to hear from you!

Join the movement. Become a volunteer. Make a difference. We offer a variety of support roles that offer something for all skill sets.

Survival isn’t enough. It’s time to live!
