Fate Of US Foreign Policy Lies in Panjshir Valley

Published in Blog on September 06, 2021 by Charles Childers

The fate of the US Foreign Policy may lie in what happens in the next few months in the Panjshir Valley, an isolated outpost slammed hard against the Hindu Kush mountains in Northeast Afghanistan.

It is in this backwater of civilization and political isolation that the resistance army of Afghanistan makes its stand against the overwhelming force of the Taliban barbarians. The US actions to either support and defend or abdicate and surrender will set the tone and tenure for US foreign policy for years to come. Will we help them or throw them to the wolves?

"Panjshir stands strong against anyone who wants to enslave people."

Ahmad Massoud – Freedom Fighter

In a Washington Post editorial, Ahmad Massoud, the 32-year-old son of the former mujahideen commander, said members of the Afghan military including some from the elite Special Forces units had rallied to his cause and he appealed to the West for help.

"We have stores of ammunition and arms that we have patiently collected since my father's time, because we knew this day might come," he said in the editorial, adding that some of the forces who had joined him had brought their weapons.

He said his forces would not be able to hold out without help from the West and he appealed for support and logistical help from the United States, Britain, and France.

"The Taliban are not a problem for the Afghan people alone. Under Taliban control, Afghanistan will without doubt become ground zero of radical Islamist terrorism,” he added.

The reputation of the USA as a world power wobbles on a pintail point before the international community. Trust of our allies, fear of our enemies, the “balance of terror” on the planet rests on a slippery slope above a dark chasm. The actions (not the words) of the USA will make or break our future position in the world in the next ninety days. Dare we rely on the current administration to see us through this high-risk trial? I think not but fear the worst.

Biden is incapable of action. He can neither lead, follow or get-out-of-the-way. It isn’t just incompetence. It is diminished capacity, indifference, and loss of reality. House plants in general have few uses outside of the nursing home. This one has no use at all. Absent true leadership “we the people” must take definitive action. We can no longer sit on our hands and hope for a worthwhile solution.

We are in the hands of and absolute control of what could be described as the most corrupt and greed driven oligarchy in our history. This oligarchy is motivated by an elitist group of incestuous families. This small group of privileged “apex-neo-aristocrats” controls the presidency, the house of representatives and major portions of the judiciary. Their iron-fisted grasp on our political system is criminal at best, and inhumane at worst. They want to enrich themselves at taxpayer expense. They want to destroy our political system and replace it with a permanent oligarchy/aristocracy of themselves and their families. They want to own and maintain the swamp!

Afghanistan is in the way. Our actions, our policies, our words can be a path to reclaim the US position in the international community. It can drive a true leadership role for the USA and our allies against an identifiable, quantifiable, absolute evil in the world. “We the people” have to own it.

The rich culture and history of this region have seen the rise and fall of many great and mighty and not so mighty powers, from Alexander-the-Great to Joe-the-Houseplant. Our “ship-of-state” in the region is on the rocks, floundering and perhaps sinking into oblivion. Save our ship or let it sink?

The actions we take to wrest power and policy from the “incompetent-in-charge” and the iron grasp of the oligarchs will make the difference. The great 13th Century Afghan poet Rumi has written of Afghanistan; “You have seen my fall. Now watch my rising”.

It can be done. It must be done. We must act together to impeach this dishonorable rabble in the White House and drive from power the “apex-neo-aristocrats” whose hands are on our throats.

Through Article V of the Constitution and the impeachment process we can move forward. The Convention of States must meet and take formative action.
