CLAIM: Conservatives will not be the only ones attending an Article V constitutional convention - FACT.
The opposition knows this country is divided into thirds - one-third Democrat, one-third Republican, and one-third Independent. This classic Red vs. Blue game aims to keep everyone squabbling among themselves. When they each are focused on their “team” winning, no one will stop to check for evidence that validates the rhetoric.
The opposition’s implied threat behind this talking point is right out of Alyinsky’s rules:
“Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear, and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone.”
In other words, create a false boogeyman, then pour gas on the fire you started, keeping people compliant, divided, and distracted.
It is no surprise that recent polling shows that an Article V convention of states for proposing amendments actually unifies these three groups. The opposition's biggest fear is a united electorate, and our electorate becomes more and more informed every day.
In fact, a poll conducted during the first quarter of this year (2024) by Susquehanna Polling and Research, Inc. shows:
- 67% of voters in Pennsylvania support using the Article V solution to restore limited government.
- 18% were unsure
- 1% didn’t respond
- Just 14% were opposed.
The earthshaking revelation from this poll: 70% of voters will cross party lines to vote for a candidate that supports using “The Article V solution.”
COSA PA has understood this for a long time. Across the political spectrum, “We the People” are fed up with Washington DC and want the state legislature to add Pennsylvania to the growing list of states calling for the convention.
In the prior article, we learned why the Framers set the ratification bar so high - to ensure overwhelming public support for any Constitutional amendment to pass.
That mandate exists in Pennsylvania, and it is only growing stronger and more vociferous each day as the grassroots COSA PA volunteer team continues to spread the word: “Article V is the solution as big as the problem.”
When this convention gets called, it will be an unprecedented media circus with every political ideology showing up. No matter. The vast majority of American citizens still have an innate desire to be free. The polls prove it.
When it comes to restraining the federal government’s power as the Founders intended, we need only look to our all-important 10th Amendment:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Americans understand freedom; it is ingrained in our spirit. Common sense will rule the day!
