Published in Blog on February 20, 2023 by Ronald Arndt

With our Federal Government off the rails, how can we expect bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. to effectively mitigate the sickening damage done by a train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio?

We Ohioans and American citizens are being forsaken by the same Federal agencies that claim to protect us.

The Federal Government and a Train Wreck

When is enough, enough? When will we demand better? We are witnessing daily the ineptitude of our Federal Government. We need only look to the horrible and gut-wrenching debacle in East Palestine, Ohio. We American citizens are being forsaken by the same Federal agencies that claim to protect us.

The folks in East Palestine are being forgotten and betrayed. On February 3, 2023, 50 cars of a freight train operated by Norfolk Southern Railway derailed in a fiery crash in this Ohio city, spewing a cocktail of deadly chemicals including highly toxic vinyl chloride and hydrogen chloride.

Days later, a town hall meeting of hundreds of worried residents was unattended by not only the railroad, but our Federal Government agencies…the same agencies that exist for the purpose of preventing disaster and addressing them when they arise. And they’re a NO SHOW!

The absence of these federal agencies is deafening! The mayor of East Palestine has reported that residents are complaining of headaches and rashes. Animals are falling sick and dying near the derailment site. As you can imagine, our fellow Americans are horrified about long-term consequences on their health, pregnancies, air quality, contamination of their water sources, even worse…cancer.

Wouldn’t you think the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, whose singular role is to manage a system that supports the safe and efficient movement of people and goods would be present at this disaster site? ABSENT!

FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, employing more than 20,000 people has as its mission to help people before, during, and after disasters. Where are they?

The Environmental Protection Agency, EPA is yet another agency of the Federal Government whose mission is to protect human and environmental health. Where is the help for these pour souls? Talking tough, the EPA administrator stated that the Federal Government would hold the railway accountable, while on the other hand declared, “The air in East Palestine is safe and I’m asking you to trust the government.”

Trust the government? The PEW Research Center reports that public trust in government is pathetically low. Only two-in-ten Americans say they trust the government in Washington to do what is right. GALLUP Research indicates American’s trust in their state and local governments far more than the inept in D.C.

Won’t you agree with me that enough is enough? There is only one sane, logical, and Constitutional way to take back control from these inept politicians and bureaucrats. Join with nearly six million Americans who want to limit Federal bureaucracy, spending, and excessive taxation. While we’re at it, let’s term limit the D.C. swamp!

It is through the application of Article V of the US Constitution that amendments can be proposed to address our bloated and inept federal government, the very government that has abandoned East Palestine.

If you don’t believe the phrase, “We’re from the Federal Government and we’re here to help you,” then direct your anger and frustration by going to www.conventionofstates.com. Carly Fiorina said it best, “Our government has become incompetent, unresponsive, corrupt. And that incompetence, ineptitude, and lack of accountability is now dangerous.”
