Whose side are you on? Democrats, Republicans, or the United States of America?
I left the Republican Party and became an Independent around 2009. I wanted to send a message that I was disappointed with the party’s direction. But as a conservative, I tended to support the Republican message.
Yet I still voted for McCain, Romney, Bush, and Trump, all while holding my nose. Were these really the best conservative candidates for President? Probably not, but what choice did I have?
I became an INO (Independent in Name Only)
I would call out the left politicians and defend positions on the right even though both parties were bankrupting us economically and morally.
The Tea Party seemed to be a movement I could support. But it was a creation of the Republican Party and quashed by both the left and the right.
Then something happened. I was reminded of what I read in one of Mark Levin’s books, where he talked about Article V of the Constitution. It seemed a fantasy at the time I read it ten years ago. But I discovered that it was alive and well and gaining momentum.
Convention of States is a solid platform for an Independent.
The answer became clear to me. It was as if my mind was a Rubik's cube and the solution appeared as the cubelets twisted into their final position.
COS does not support any political party.
I could now stand in a position of strength as an official, not a fan of either side, in the “game” of American politics.
