DNC launches anti-Trump "Resistance Summer"

Published in Blog on July 17, 2017 by Convention Of States Project

The Democratic National Committee announced this week a new initiative they’re calling “Resistance Summer.”

They plan to hold anti-Trump rallies across the country to bolster their state and local membership, and balance the equation after huge Republican victories in November.

As the name suggests, these rallies won’t be designed to foster national unity or cooperation. The Democrats are looking to use the fear of President Trump to achieve a political end: more power on the state and local level.

As one of the two major parties launches an initiative that uses the language of rebellion and revolt, it’s difficult to imagine a time in the last three decades when the country has been more divided. The anti-Trump sections of the country seem diametrically opposed to the pro-Trump sections, and there doesn’t seem to be any space for compromise or cooperation.

There is a national movement, however, that began in the states and is working to unite the nation around the principles of liberty and self-governance: the Convention of States Project.

The Convention of States Project is powered by state and local volunteers in all fifty states. We understand the importance of state and local control, which is why they’re working to call the first-ever Article V Convention of States to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government.

A Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that restore to the states their rightful power and allow the people living in a particular place to control their own lives. Unlike the Democrats, who seek state control only in order to bolster their power in DC, the Convention of States Project is working to allow American citizens to truly govern themselves.

The movement is spreading, and millions of Americans from every state and way of life have signed up.
