Recently a group of 12 patriotic COS Virginia volunteers promoted Convention of States at the March 20, 2021, Roanoke Valley Gun Show.
Regional Captain Jody Martin of the James River Region gladly welcomed the new volunteers, some of whom were new District Captains.
The day started off with a thoughtful prayer led by William Shewy, the new DC for HD6.
The volunteers, who were well-versed in their 60-second elevator-speeches, were then split to work the entrance line points as well as both levels of the show room and exhibit space.
The group achieved a phenomenal success by gathering 230 signed petitions!
Despite Covid restrictions reducing this typical gun show from two days to one, more petitions were gathered on this one day than on a typical two-day event.
Jen Durkin, a new volunteer from HD60, hand-wrote 12 cards that were mailed to the region's state legislators, informing them that the COS team was actively growing support within the region for a Convention of States. The cards were signed by all the volunteers.
After the show ended, several of the new DCs joined RC Jody Martin at a local restaurant to discuss and develop strategies to keep growing the grassroots movement in Southwest Virginia.
Jody Martin, who has worked recent Roanoke Gun Shows by himself, was thrilled to work with the many new and enthusiastic volunteers.
"Most of the remaining hand-out material was distributed to the new DCs as a start-up kit," Martin reported.
