The past two weeks have gone by with blistering speed here in Pennsylvania. The grassroots volunteers--the life blood of Convention of States Project,--have been giving their time, energy, and resources to make our mission a success. They have attended many community festivals educating citizens and obtaining additional petition signers.
The Pennsylvania State Government Committees held a joint Senate/House hearing on the Convention of States Concurrent Resolution SR 234 and companion Resolution HR 206. No votes were held at that time. This hearing was for the express purpose of allowing committee members to hear testimony on this important issue.
COS President Mark Meckler and COS Pennsylvania Legislative Director Steve Davies gave compelling testimony on why this country needs an Article V convention to restore the federal government to its founding principles.
Hopefully, you have seen the video of the hearing, but what you haven’t seen is the strength our volunteers projected in Harrisburg.
We were so numerous, the hearing room was packed to the rafters and overflowed into the hall. Convention of States signs and buttons were every where.
After the hearing our volunteers organized in the cafeteria, split up into small groups, and then went office by office to deliver information packets to our elected officials and educate them on their constitutional obligation to protect We the People from federal tyranny.
The effects of their efforts have been tremendous. Mr. Davies received positive feedback from several elected officials, and many more are asking for meetings to learn more about the process.
The committee votes are expected to occur in the near future, but have not yet been scheduled. Now is the time to make your voice heard.
Call or write the members of the committees and ask they support the Convention of States Concurrent Resolution SR 234 and companion House Resolution HR 206.
The more they hear form an engaged citizenry, the easier it will be to convince them to accept their duty and obligation to defend us against the usurpation of our inalienable rights by the federal government.
Members of the Senate State Government Committee
Members of the House State Government Committee
While you are in a writing spirit, please drop a note to the House and Senate resolutions co-sponsors thanking them for their support.
Taking the lead on this issue is a bold and courageous act on their part. We know the elites are clamoring for the status quo to continue. Our sponsors are demonstrating leadership in a time when leadership is in short supply.
