Jody Martin, COS Virginia Roanoke Regional Captain, launched monthly Lynchburg breakfast meetings last spring to provide the public an opportunity to learn about the Convention of States movement through discussions of strategy, educational materials, and guest lecturers.
The first breakfast started in May and in just a few short months it has grown into two monthly breakfast meetings.
From the large attendance several attendees stepped up to volunteer for COS Virginia. Also recruited were two new District Captains.
Because of this growth, additional meetings are planned for the greater Roanoke area.
The recent August breakfast meeting in Lynchburg was organized by one of the new District Captains, Cynthia Neas. The featured speaker was COS Virginia Legislative Liaison, Chris Walker.
Walker shared the results of a recent Trafalgar Group Survey which shows that an overwhelming majority of Americans (66% overall) now support the call for a Convention of States to impose term limits, balance the budget, and restrain federal government overreach.
Walker also encouraged the audience to download the COS Pocket Guide: "If you study this guide, you will be ready to engage your legislators," he explained.
And that’s exactly what the COS movement needs...more activists to effectively communicate with their state legislators to use their unique role in calling a Convention of States to rein in Washington, D.C.
We are more than halfway (19 of 34 states) to meet the requirement for an Article V Convention of States to be called.
To get Virginia on board, we must have our legislators in both houses of the General Assembly ready to ACT in the next session! Contact them at this easy link.
