Convention of States Grassroots Fired Up in King, NC

Published in Blog on November 18, 2024 by Melissa Martin

It was a great meeting at King Library! There were 5 COS Supporters in attendance. Straight off, meeting participants were eager to learn what they could do to continue the momentum of COS in NC. Ideas were requested to reach people in House District 91, which is represented by Kyle Hall.  Immediately an idea came from the person who happens to be the chair of the Fire In the Foothills BBQ Festival. Luckily, we will be able to get a timely application to reserve a booth.

Meeting participants wrote on their index cards provided to write down important key takeaways from the meeting. They learned how to find and follow their state legislator on the general assembly website, ncleg.gov. It was thrilling to see their enthusiasm as they asked what their homework would be! They were already talking about inviting friends to the next meeting. Their assignment was to send a Convention of States post card, provided to them at the meeting, to Senator Joyce Krawiec, the week of November 18th, urging her colleagues to move the COS Resolution, HJR 235 to the Senate for a vote this session.

Here's one reason we need an Article V Convention of States:

According to Mark Levin's Liberty Amendments Chapter 6, the federal bureaucracy has now become a fourth branch of government -- a largely unaccountable administrative state with vast powers to regulate and control the consequences of civil and criminal penalties.

The solution as big as the problem:

We the People need an Article V Convention of States to propose amendments to reduce the size and scope of the federal government and provide stronger checks on the bureaucrats in Washington, DC.

Grassroots is how we get it done!
