My phone rang on Wednesday, March 2nd. It was a Convention of States Action District Captain from Ohio. He wanted to know if I was in Hagerstown and if he could give my number to a representative of The People’s Convoy.
I, of course, said yes.
A few minutes later I received a call from someone on the logistics team of The People’s Convoy. They were looking for a main site plus back up parking in the Hagerstown area along with local media contacts. I supplied her with my media contacts and several locations for parking.
I called my friend, a Convention of States Action petition signer and volunteer from Salt and Light Brigade. He said his SLB partner was coordinating with the People’s Convoy to provide coffee. The next morning, Voices of Freedom sent out an email asking for volunteers and donations for the Convoy at the Hagerstown Speedway.
We connected with a few other folks in the Hagerstown area to support the Convoy. One gentleman in particular was coordinating the Hagerstown volunteer response. At 4pm on Thursday, March 3rd our partnership began by setting up a coffee stand at the Speedway.
I supplied 3 tables and 1 coffee pot. By Friday, March 4th, we exchanged the coffee pot for a borrowed 100 cup pot. There were 100 trucks at the Speedway from the northeast US. By Friday evening, a few hundred more arrived. We put out a call for more supplies!
We were invited back Saturday to serve coffee before the Convoy headed to DC. We served coffee all morning, then found out they were staying put until Sunday. I was interviewed by Brietbart News. We were asked to return and serve all day on Sunday.

We put out another request for supplies. We were flooded with tons of coffee and cups. Then, donated supplies from the Convoy members started showing up en masse. Thus began a major upgrade of our operation, not knowing if each next day was the last.
We started off serving coffee & hot chocolate. People wanted to give us donations. So the Salt & Light Brigade set up a donations jar. People would get coffee and stuff $1, $5, $20 – even $100 into the jar saying, "Your coffee is what really makes our trucks run." We start at 6am and stay until about 10pm every night.
I’ve been there daily (and nightly) in my full Uncle Sam garb. I’ve had so many conversations about Convention of States. The truckers are very interested and passionate about it. News of West Virginia passing the COS Resolution has been a great talking point. Every time someone asks to take a picture I give them the “I need you” pose and then I give them a palm card and ask them to sign the Convention of States petition.
I’ve asked many folks why they joined the Convoy. One person with a small child said, “I don’t want to tell my grand kids when they asked me what I did to save our country, that I did nothing. That’s why I am here with my truck.” There was a soldier here in uniform who was discharged last week for refusing the vaccine. Truckers are here from Washington state, Massachusetts, California, Florida, Texas, Indiana, Iowa, Oklahoma – proud Americans all.
Some people started driving in their car behind the Convoy in the Midwest and kept following all the way to Hagerstown. Some are here until the end, and some are day to day but all of them love America. All of them want our freedoms restored, never to be stripped away again.
On March 8th, the People’s Convoy representatives met with Senator Ted Cruz (TX) and Senator Ron Johnson (WI) on Capitol Hill. Then on March 9th, Senator Cruz made an appearance at the Speedway and took a ride along with the Convoy. (I'm not sure if he had a cup of our coffee.)
The Convoy is not over until they see action. They are prepared to stay and the Convoy is growing with more trucks arriving daily.
I set up my own tent on March 13th and 14th with donations from Modern Woodmen of America. We cooked up 10 pots of chili for the truckers. There are lots of snacks lying around for truckers to grab, but that home cooked hot meal was a big hit. March 21st, my wife Lynn and I served up 24 gallons of ice cream sundaes on a beautiful 69 degree day.
Come to Hagerstown and help out! Donate food, bring up a church group with the ability to serve up to 1,000 truckers or more with the food you bring. There are as many as 2,500 people here at times. The kitchen is all volunteer and donations are making it work. Hot meals run out some nights before all the trucks return to the lot.
More coffee will be served, and more meals will be dished out while this city on wheels has set up its temporary home in my back yard of Hagerstown. I am here doing my part to support them and help communicate how we can save our country through an Article V Convention of States.
After helping serve over 200 gallons of coffee a day I’ve learned that Coffee is the Lifeblood of Truckers, and Truckers are what makes America Run. I've learned that our mission is their mission.
So, if you can’t make it to Hagerstown before the Convoy relocates, come help us out in Hagerstown to share some coffee and the COS message with our guests in Maryland. At the very least, buy a trucker a cup of coffee the next time you encounter a trucker. Thank them for their dedication to keep America running.
The people of The People’s Convoy are very concerned about our Freedoms being stolen. They are devout, law abiding and respectful of the thin blue line. They are not anti-vaccine. They want the federal mandates lifted and the National Emergency order rescinded, never to be used on Americans again. They say it over and over, about our federal legislators:
THEY WORK FOR US, and we want all Americans to make sure to remind their Congressmen and Senators of that fact.
Honk, Honk: Truckers are the lifeblood of our nation. Please do your part to carry their message in the cause for Liberty and Freedom.
