On September 22, 2023, the Western Patriot States (Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, and California) sent their state leaders to Sacramento to learn from and inspire each other in the work we do as Convention of States activists.
In true Federalist fashion, each state operates in its own unique way, yet all are working to accomplish the same goal, namely calling an Article V Convention of States to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution, amendments that will limit Washington, D.C.'s time, money, and power.
Despite each state's unique approach, all who met that day came away with a common realization.
We really aren't so different after all.
The challenges faced by each of our states are the same. There is a profound sort of unburdening that is experienced when one is in the company of those who are traveling along the same path.
The joys we experience in our state are the same joys experienced by other states. The challenges we face are often also the same. Coming together gave us an opportunity to lift key moments up and share with each other the challenges and successes we are having. This somehow breathes new life and meaning into each of our state organizations.
California's grassroots coordinator Alison Moon sums it up best when she proclaims, "There is hope":
The hope Alison speaks of isn't just for our volunteers, it is really for all of the people in our states. As Alison indicates, many people are just waiting to be nudged in the right direction.
"They [the people sitting on the sidelines] are just waiting for Patriots to light a fire underneath them."
Yes, hope is alive and well in the Western Patriot States. The evidence of this can be seen everywhere, from parents standing up for their children at school board meetings to legal judgments being passed down to preserve and protect the rights under attack (Even as other laws are being passed that strip us of key liberties).
If the situation were hopeless, we wouldn't be able to see God's work and God's movement within our states. There would be no one standing up to fight for the children, no one holding the line against attacks made on our rights. God's presence and grace are blessing us with hope. It is up to us to do something with it.
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”
2 Corinthians 4:8-9, NIV translation
Be of good cheer, patriots.
There Is Hope.
