Another Successful Eustis, Florida Event

Published in Blog on February 28, 2023 by Wendy Richards

Fun was had by attendees and volunteers alike at this year’s Georgefest in rural Eustis, Florida. It was a gorgeous day to celebrate George Washington’s birthday with the community, and this year’s Georgefest theme of “We the People” was a perfect fit for Convention of States. A consistent flow of people visited the booth to find out what COS was all about.

Over the course of sixteen hours, the dedicated team of COS volunteers gathered a total of 110 signed petitions, with 7 of those people indicating an interest in volunteering to further support COS.

In addition to Florida residents, out-of-state petition signers included 4 from Pennsylvania, 2 from Illinois, 2 from Ohio, and 1 each from Iowa, Texas, Michigan, New Jersey, and New York.

The COS volunteers had a great time and did an amazing job. A few even went around to visit fellow vendors at the event with petitions in hand. COS event organizer, Kay MacQueen (FL RC 6 & 7) and super Volunteer Captain Joanna Brehm went above and beyond, setting up and taking down the booth and being on hand throughout the entire event.

Kay MacQueen took the time to visit the other patriotically focused booths to introduce herself. As a result, she was asked to participate in four future speaking engagements. Those requests to present came from Get Out the Vote, Libertarian Party of Lake County Florida, Federation of Republican Women, and Mount Dora Republican Women.

The Mayor of Eustis, Michael Holland, accompanied by City Commissioner Nan Cobb, made a point of stopping by the COS booth specifically to share their appreciation for the COS team’s ongoing support of Eustis events. A year and half of participation has made COS a favorite vendor with City of Eustis Event Coordinator Chris Guthrie as well.

Kindness, dedication, gratitude, and dependability have paid off in HD 26 in rural Florida. A growth analysis chart for HD 26 shows a gain of 1095 additional signed petitions in just the last year alone, for a current total of 3,137 signed petitions. That is outstanding results for rural America. With the Leesburg Bikefest coming up the end of April, that number will continue to grow.

Thank you to the dedicated COS volunteers who do a tremendous job of engaging their communities and facilitating the growth of an army of self-governing grassroots activists. Way to go, COS volunteers!
