According to an article published by The Wall Street Journal (Who Won in Afghanistan? Private Contractors), the Department of Defense spent $6 million to import nine Italian goats to Afghanistan to boost its cashmere market.
The soft-haired undercoat of this type of goat is called cashmere. Imagine using taxpayer money, meant for defense, to move goats. Was this necessary when you know that Afghanistan is already the third largest producer of cashmere after China and Mongolia?
By the way, in our research, we found that a female cashmere goat can cost not more than $4,500. We could have done this task for less than $100,000. Does this sound like the $7000 toilet seat, again?
The Pentagon fritters away $6 million. How? Either we are not aware or there is a lack of transparency. We need to make Washington accountable for its unaccountable spending.
