This list of goes on and on.
The general populace continues to observe these enormous errors, together with multiple cases of corruption, as these excess expenditures by our federal government cannot all be the result of "well meaning mistakes". We rarely see huge street protests of American taxpayers specifically demanding accountability, although they do eventually speak at the polls, once they sense their best interests are not being met other than with slogans - yet they usually can only replace the figureheads of government for limited times in titular office. The misuse of hard earned tax dollars has traditionally shifted from one administration to the next without real change - always with the same general misuse of funds, as seen here.
That fact shows how much We the People have become accustomed to our federal government’s consistent lack of fiscal discipline with our hard earned tax dollars.
Have we been just quietly submissive, or were we just too busy or distracted to vocally demand such accounting, with real consequences (yes - firing people & pursuing civil or criminal prosecution when warranted) for those (our civil servants) who fail to do their jobs or who aid in committing crimes of this nature?
Or, is this whole annual debacle unavoidable, as it's inevitably part of the system - stemming from inherent deficiencies within all growing bureaucracies? The bigger they become, the more they cease to function with any efficiency while We the People watch and are helpless to exert any real change or manage this dysfunction from afar.
We have passed through a sea change lately, calling for a major restructuring of these spendthrift bureaucracies, while it is too early to see if such changes to the system will be enacted or once done, can simply be undone.
Let us have hope and faith that we can truly have a peaceful yet revolutionary impact. One very effective means of accomplishing meaningful and lasting change to limit such excesses is via an Article V Convention under the aegis Convention of States.
************
At Convention of States, we strongly uphold and protect the Constitution and encourage all interested parties to research us, sign our petition (calling for amendment topic proposals supported by a majority of fellow citizens).
We can achieve these goals without relying on Congress, which has yet to police itself.
The 3 topics/issues to be addressed in an Article V Convention are as follows:
1. Term Limits for Congress & Bureaucrats in Washington DC
2. Fiscal Responsibility
3. Reduction in the size and scope of the federal government
