The second regular session of the 101st Assembly of the Missouri legislature opens on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. The Convention of States Missouri Team will be having a Surge Day on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 and you can find more information about this event HERE.
If you are not able to join us, you can still participate by contacting your legislators and letting them know that you support the Convention of States and that you want a convention of the states to take place so that We The People can put Washington, D.C. back in its rightful place.
We hope you will take the time to contact your legislators and thank them for the work they are doing on behalf of the State of Missouri and also let them know how you feel about any pending legislation. Listed below are resources to help you in locating and contacting your representatives.
You choose how you would like to contact your legislators. Both the House and Senate websites have address lookup features which will direct you to your legislators. If you have set up your profile on the Convention of States website, your House and Senate Districts will be listed at the bottom of your Profile Page.
Most legislators have a regular email newsletter sent to their constituents and we encourage you to sign up. If you have the opportunity to meet with them in your district, please thank them for their service.

Planning on calling? Your call will most likely be answered by one of the legislator’s staff. Your message will be relayed to your Representative.
Sending an email? Be sure to include your full name and address so that your legislator will know that you are a constituent.
Sending a letter? When addressing a legislator standard practice is to call them ‘The Honorable’ in the address section of the letter as well as on the envelope. 'Dear Senator' or 'Dear Representative' are used in the salutation.
Give the kids some practice writing letters. Our legislators represent them as well. Put them to work making cards and writing letters and not necessarily about the Convention of States.
Considering having a letter-writing gathering? Do whatever is comfortable for you. Mail all of the letters to a legislator individually or in one large envelope. The Post Office delivers to each office at the Capitol rather than to a mail room.
If some people who are invited to your party are not Convention of States supporters, this will be a great opportunity to reach, teach and activate, and they can help by thanking our legislators for their service. Please share our Missouri Information Page with anyone.
If you are not comfortable with inviting people to your home, lots of libraries have study rooms. If all else fails, a fast-food place with good coffee will draw a crowd.
Contact Suggestions and Sample Letters
Another way to communicate: Share your opinions with others by writing a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. Legislators follow these sources very closely and you can help influence others who know little or nothing about the Convention of States. Thank you for supporting this very important project in our nation’s history. Keep in mind that you can and should contact your legislators whenever you have suggestions or praise. With a few exceptions these individuals work long hours and make great sacrifices to serve the State of Missouri.
