Ten Days of Liberty

Welcome, patriot!

This year a lot looks different across our nation. We are thankful to celebrate liberty this Christmas season, along with family and friends. Please check back each morning to follow along with the 10 Days of Liberty, or follow along on our COS Missouri Facebook Page.

 

First Amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

The blessing: you have rights of communication with your family and friends, strangers, your Creator and your governing bodies.

Under the subject matter of ‘reining in the federal government’ we can propose limiting amendments in a Convention of States which will prohibit indirect actions intended to prevent communication. For example, Tea Party groups were targeted under the Obama administration as a means of communication suppression.

What other suppressions of free rights of expression do you want corrected? What can you do to make this happen?

We asked these rhetorical questions of you individually to point out a reality of our way of life: one person cannot fight the system alone. We need to work together and we would like you to consider joining the fight.

Please consider signing the petition to call a Convention of the States if you have not already done so and become a volunteer in the efforts to use our Constitution to save our Constitution. Take Action and make 2021 the year we succeed.

 

Second Amendment: A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The blessing: you can protect what you own and whom you love.

No part of the Convention of States resolution is designed to permit discussion about changes to this amendment. However, by protecting other rights to life, property, access and use, other proposed amendments can make resorting to armed force less likely.

What else can you do to keep your state free?

 

Third Amendment: No soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.

The blessing: you decide who enters your home in peacetime and only by defined law in wartime.

A proposed amendment to define one’s rights of control over home, travel and right to work would fit under the ‘reining in the federal government’ in a Convention of States meeting since what is contrary to federal law cannot be sanctioned under state law.

Does a mandate from anyone in peacetime defining who may enter your home violate this amendment? Does a mandate on how you will dress within your home do the same? What can you do to remedy recent invasions of privacy?

 

Fourth Amendment: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

The blessing: you have a right to security and safety except for defined reasons.

An Article V Convention of States could develop a proposal to define and enumerate rights of seizure.

What governmental agency has the right to come on to your property and declare anything as protected from your use without just compensation? What can you do to stop this overreach?

 

Fifth Amendment: No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

The blessing: your property cannot be taken without due process of law and your thoughts and words cannot be taken by force under any circumstances. Is listening in on your private conversations without your permission a form of force?

Within a Convention of States it may be possible to define ‘privacy’ in a way which reins in both federal and state governments and stop this overreach.

What government agency(s) are guilty of invasion contrary to the Constitution? What can you do to stop this overreach?

 

Sixth Amendment: In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.

The blessing: your time and your access to knowledge to defend yourself are inherent in your right to life.

Under the subject matter of ‘reining in the federal government’ it may be possible to re-define local prosecution through a Convention of States proposed amendment so that government agencies must accuse you locally instead of requiring extensive travel and expense to defend yourself.

What government agencies do you want stripped of the power to prosecute you criminally without giving you the means to defend yourself? What can you do to make this happen?

 

Seventh Amendment: In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed 20 dollars, the right to trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise reexamined in any court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.

The blessing: you have a right to redress wrongs at a local level. Local control is a basic right which has been appropriated by various governmental agencies.

The Convention of States Article V resolution permits the development of proposed amendments which can help to rein in the federal government.

What areas of control currently held at the federal level do you want returned to state control? What can you do to make this happen?

 

Eighth Amendment: Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

The blessing: your property is protected as fully as your humanity. Isn’t the national debt equivalent to an excessive bail and/or fine imposed upon our grandchildren?

Our Convention of States resolution permits discussion of a balanced-budget amendment.

What property have you been stripped of by dictatorial government representatives intent on controlling your rights to provide for yourself and your family? What can you do to remedy this overreach?

 

 

Ninth 10th Amendment: The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

The blessing: you have rights inherent in your humanity which are not forfeited because they are not defined in law.

An Article V Convention of the States can help to enumerate the rights which the federal government and its bureaucracy have been so willing to abuse or ignore.

What do you have which is being infringed upon by our out-of-control governing entities? What can you do to make this happen?

 

 

Tenth Amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

The blessing: you have the right to decide what is best for yourself within the parameters of the laws established at the federal and state government levels.

We The People are provided a means of changing those parameters by Article V of the U.S. Constitution.

Physicians for COS

The diagnosis is clear.

We have a growing cancer today known as the Obamacare. As a result physicians are no longer free to practice medicine.

No profession feels the full force of the federal government more than physicians. The medical profession is the most highly regulated profession in the United States. The practice of medicine is controlled, taxed, and regulated to the point of being destroyed by the heavy hand of the federal government.

Physicians are told how to bill, how much to charge, and how to treat patients. They are mandated to use expensive electronic medical records. The federally enacted HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Portability Act) makes the communication between physicians and atients burdensome, inefficient,and expensive. Every physician is required by federal mandate to register with the government to obtain an NPI (national provider identifier.) We are required by federal law to obtain and pay for a license to prescribe medication through the DEA, which is separate from our state licensure.

This heavy hand of government not only oversees the largest federal health bureaucracy ever created, but by extension reaches into every state, every city, and every small town to regulate how every licensed physician practices the art of medicine and how citizens obtain care.

The treatment is also clear.

The prescription for a cure was written into our constitution by our founders. Article V of our constitution allows for the states to call for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government through the proposal of constitutional amendments. Physicians should be the strongest supporters of this brilliantly-crafted states’ rights tool placed into our constitution by our founders.

I urge my fellow American physicians to join with me in supporting an Article V Convention of States to take back control of the practice of medicine. It’s the only way that we can return the practice of medicine back to the intimate relationship between a doctor and patient without interference by the heavy hand of a distant, national government.
