What is the Community Newsmaker and how does it fit in with the Convention of States project?
The Community Newsmaker is a project of a non-profit called the Community Newsmaker Foundation and their efforts are focused on revitalizing local news.
Why is local news so important to self-governance in the 21st century?
The battle for America is being fought with thoughts and ideas. Whoever wins at shaping the values and beliefs of a population controls the direction of the country but only as long as they are in control of the information resources.
Where are these news resources located?
With a few exceptions they are all online. There are about 1,300 participating news outlets in all 50 states and we have 27 right here in Missouri. Check out the news outlets near you at Metric News LLC. Most of these news outlets currently have a small readership but we can help change that reality.
How do we access this resource and how does the process work?
www.communitynewsmaker.com/COS
The Community Newsmaker program has been active for about two years and, if you had bookmarked a link to it previously please note that the above link replaces it.
Do we have to write the article?
No, but please provide any information available, including sources, contacts with phone numbers and emails where possible.
Should these articles only relate to the Convention of States?
No, but we ask that they relate to self-governance, current events involving peaceful community activism, or information relating to local or state politics or politicians. More details are available HERE.
Will we be advised if the article is published?
Yes, and we suggest that you share it with friends, family and on social media. Feel free to advertise your involvement in its development; it will encourage others to act.
Incidentally, politicians (elected or wanna-be) keep track of any published mentions about themselves. The Community Newsmaker resource is a good way to keep them aware that the self-governing, government-watching supporters of the Convention of States are out there.
