Yvette Herrell on "COS at Home" on June 5

Published in Blog on May 21, 2024 by Matt May

Convention of States endorser and former U.S. representative from New Mexico Yvette Herrell will be the special guest on the next edition of "COS at Home".

“COS at Home” is hosted by Convention of States Action regional director and political liaison Jonathan Viaud. This month’s edition airs on June 5, at 8:00 p.m. ET and can be live-streamed here

Jonathan and Yvette will discuss her background, her career in politics and inside look at the D.C. swamp, and her decision to endorse the movement to call an Article V convention, which she broadly outlined in the following clip:

As always, this edition of "COS at Home" will feature timely updates about Convention of States Action's progress from across the country, produced by the talented Garrett “Producer G” Humbertson.

Be sure to help make "COS at Home" interactive by participating in the Minutemen Mailbag segment. Questions that may be read and answered on the program can be sent to the Minutemen Mailbag via this link

Yvette, a realtor and entrepreneur, was elected to the Congress in 2020. During her term in the U.S. House of Representatives, she was a member of the Freedom Caucus, opposed expanding federal regulation (particularly of small businesses), and was a vocal advocate for border security, evidenced by her 2021 call for the deployment of the National Guard along the U.S.-Mexican border.

"I’ve known Yvette Harrell for many years," said Convention of States Action co-founder and president Mark Meckler. "You won’t meet a more steadfast conservative warrior. She’s NOT a politician even though she’s been in Congress…and that’s the highest compliment."

Yvette was defeated for re-election to the U.S. House in 2022 by less than one percent of the vote.

Prior to her representation of New Mexico's 2nd district in Congress, Yvette served in the New Mexico House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019. She won office after winning the 2010 Republican Party primary election against incumbent Republican state representative Gloria Vaughn before winning the general election with 63 percent of the vote.

Get to know Yvette Herrell, her interesting career in state and national politics, and why she supports our effort to call and Article V convention during the June edition of "COS at Home"! Tune in at 8:00 p.m. ET on June 5

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
