Wyoming is on the verge of making history.
Following testimony on February 24 concerning Senate Joint Resolution 1 -- the COS resolution calling for an Article V convention -- the Wyoming House Education Committee voted by a decisive 6-3 margin to approve the resolution.
SJR 1 now moves to the full House for a vote. Late last month, the Wyoming Senate voted in favor of SJR 1 by a vote of 22-7. Should a majority of the House likewise approve the resolution, Wyoming will become the 20th state to call for a limited-purpose Article V convention to reduce the size and scope of the federal government.
"I was incredibly pleased and excited to see this 6-3 committee victory," said Convention of States Action Senior Vice President for Legislative Affairs Rita Peters.
"The Wyoming Representatives are standing up to act with courage in the face of federal overreach, which is what our Founders counted on state legislators to do."

As you will see, the COS Wyoming team again showed out with eloquent and forthright testimony in favor of the resolution. COSA's own Rick Santorum turned in yet another stellar performance, this time testifying remotely from Des Moines, Iowa, and refuting opposition arguments and obfuscations about what an Article V convention truly entails. Sen. Eric Barlow, the chief sponsor of SJR 1, presented an articulate introduction of the measure to the committee.
Congratulations to the whole of the COS Wyoming team, state director Julie Baker, and Wild West Region director Deanna Becket. Their diligence and dedication has brought Wyoming to the brink of an historic milestone.
