Woman who badgered her dying father to vote for Joe Biden demonstrates everything wrong with the federal government

Published in Blog on October 26, 2020 by Article V Patriot

Have you seen this video? It made the rounds on social media this week, and it demonstrates everything wrong with the federal government.

It shows a woman holding up note cards explaining how she convinced her terminally ill father to vote for Joe Biden.

“My 55-year-old conservative dad has never voted Democrat in his LIFE,” the note cards said. “He’s dying of Aplastic Anemia. We’ve had some intense exchanges about him voting for Trump this year, which has been painful, since we’ll almost certainly lose him in the next few weeks/months.”

“He has six daughters who love him dearly,” the cards continued. “Yesterday, he was so excited to tell me he’d just voted for BIDEN/HARRIS 2020!!!! Because ‘It matters to my girls and my girls matter to me.’ Vote for the guy who respects women! If my VERY Republican dad can… SO. CAN. YOU.”

The video garnered harsh condemnation on Twitter as national figures and private citizens alike pointed out the strangeness of spending a person's dying days talking politics. Journalist Kelly Jane Torrance summarized the majority of the criticism:

Why would a person spend her father's last days convincing him to vote for Joe Biden -- and then make a video bragging about it?

The answer requires an understanding of how powerful the federal government has become. This woman knows how much change a Joe Biden presidency could exact on our country. She knows how powerful the executive branch is, and she believes it's worth it to spend her father's final days badgering him about voting.

The American people shouldn't have to worry every four years that their country will be destroyed by the other party. We need to limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government -- and the only way to do that is with a Convention of States.

A Convention of States is called under Article V of the Constitution and has the power to propose constitutional amendments that put the federal government back in its constitutional box. These amendments can eliminate executive agencies, limit the power of executive orders, and ensure that the White House faithfully enforces all the laws passed by the people's representatives.

We need to get back to our founding principle of limited government. Washington, D.C., will never limit itself, which is why we must use the tool the Founders gave us in Article V.

Millions of Americans have joined the Convention of States movement, and 15 of the necessary 34 states have called for a Convention to limit federal power. Sign the petition below to get involved!

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
