Where are the Leaders in our Country? The answer might surprise you.

Published in Blog on June 12, 2023 by William Siwek

Are you comfortable with the crew of leaders we have in Washington DC?

We have a DHS Secretary that cannot see any crisis at our borders.

And we have an EPA Secretary that thinks regulations and mandates for cooktops, dishwashers, air conditioners, EV’s and – oh yes – even battery operated military vehicles are the only ways to control the temperature of Earth.

Many of our cabinet members and heads of federal agencies apparently have degrees from Harvard. Yet, as William F. Buckley once said:

I'd rather entrust the government of the United States to the first 400 people listed in the Boston telephone directory than to the faculty of Harvard University.

The good news is that Convention of States Action has over thousands of leaders in every state of the country, many of whom live in Virginia, paving the way for self-governance.

They understand that it’s up to 'We the People' to change the way Washington behaves since they certainly aren’t up to the task and wouldn’t dream of it under any circumstance.

Thus our leaders are educating their neighbors about how Convention of States uses Article V of the Constitution to save the Constitution.

By growing our leadership we grow our influence on restoring self-governance for future generations. We invite you to that exciting mission!

Start your journey of leadership by signing the Convention of States petition (if you have not already done so).

That puts your state legislators on notice that you want them to exercise the power they have under Article V of the US Constitution to call for a convention of states in order to propose amendments to rein in Washington, D.C.

Once we convince the legislatures in 34 of our 50 states to pass the resolution, then we will be well on our way to fixing this runaway government. We’ve got 19 states and counting.

Please consider making a donation to help COS Action in the quest to restore power back to “We the People”; or if you can’t contribute at this time (we understand, the economy is hurting everyone) perhaps you can volunteer some of your time to help this righteous cause.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
