Remember the rumors during Covid about your phone possibly tracking your daily movements for contact tracing purposes? Well, they did track your actions, but not to mitigate Covid cases; rather to win your vote.
Over 350,000 Republican voters were given a score by the leftist analytics firm PredictWise through a data harvesting program, Reclaim the Net first reported.
The data came from tens of millions of cell phones during the first Covid-19 lockdowns in 2020. Based on GPS-tracked movements, people associated with each phone were assigned a “COVID-19 decree violation” score.
This violation score then determined possible voter targets among Democrat candidates.
The third-party data firm, which works with the Democratic National Committee to provide data in key state races, openly explains the surveillance process on its website.
Covid-19 decree violation scores were calculated by analyzing nearly two billion Global Positioning System (GPS) pings to get "real-time, ultra-granular locations patterns." People who were “on the go more often than their neighbors” were given a high violation score while those who "mostly or always stayed at home" were given a low Covid-19 violation score.
Essentially, obedient, conservative-minded citizens during Covid lockdowns were targeted by progressive political campaigns.
Compliance was equal to control and ultimately a gateway to more power.
In the end, over 350,000 “Covid concerned” Republican voters were preyed upon in swing states for their unstable view when it came to the pandemic. These targeted voters received campaign ads and other forms of persuasion that helped elect candidates such as now U.S. Senator Mark Kelly, a Democrat from Arizona who was in a tight race in 2020.
“PredictWise understood that there were potential pockets of voters to target with Covid-19 messaging and turned high-dimensional data covering over 100 million Americans into measures of adherence to Covid-19 restrictions during deep lockdown,” the company explains.
Interestingly, compliant Republicans’ concern and persuadability were almost as high as Democrats. Even more interesting, compliant Republicans over the age of 65 were more concerned about Covid than Democrats.
While you, the reader, may be wondering if PredictWise tracked your personal data, the answer is more than likely… yes.
PredictWise admitted it tracks the opinions, attitudes, and behaviors (location data, media consumption) of more than 260 million Americans. That’s 78% of the population.
This breach of data collection is astonishing and out of control. While this isn’t an issue stirred directly by the federal government, it’s an issue that still stems back to power, control, and the need for effective changes in Washington.
But no doubt, those in Washington that are or will be running political campaigns when they’re up for reelection will want all the data they can get on voters in their districts.
So the privacy invasion will go on because it’s supported by the establishment that needs pinpoint analytics in order to win.
What could this data be used for in the future? Could it be used to target citizens with a high level of lockdown violation? Even more worrisome is what data points they have obtained and have no intention of disclosing.
This is frightening for individual sovereignty.
Calling for a Convention of States can bring to light this issue and can address the invasion of third parties in our daily lives, such as the federal government.
