We ask you regularly to sign up to volunteer but what does that mean to you if you don’t know what you’re signing up to do? Here’s a list of roles that work to move Colorado towards being counted as the several states, as described by Article V in the U.S. Constitution.
The general Volunteer Activist can decide to go in a variety of directions, based on your interests and skills. It depends on you: are you a people person, or not? Are you into computers and graphic design? History? Do you enjoy opining and teaching? We’ve got them all. Letter writers, block walkers, idea generators and team members who assist other volunteers for events and letter writing campaigns. You decide the role and how much time you want to give to help. It’s all valuable.
The Prayer Team is exactly what it describes. Whether you’re a person of faith or not, you are welcome at Convention of States. However, there’s a large group of COS supporters who want prayer to be a part of our organization. As co-founder Mark Meckler said, “we respond to grassroots, not the other way around.” Over the years, there have been a lot of requests to pray for Convention of States, for volunteers and for our nation’s health and liberty. National COSA responded to grassroots requests which birthed the Prayer Warrior volunteer team.
This team communicates through a private online chat group. You see prayer requests and you pray. There’s a weekly prayer call where you meet and interact with other COS prayer warriors. Also, you hear about answered prayer, and encourage your neighboring patriots so you can serve and support one another. You’ll also receive emails with strategic information once or twice a month, a monthly volunteer calendar and invitations to prayer teleconferences.
The Events Coordinators are taken on by different COS groups. You can do this through the Veterans Coalition Team, as a District Captain Team Member, or as a Grassroots Team member. This group is involved in planning and coordinating COS events. This includes the annual legislative rally at the state Capitol in Denver, COS hosted town halls and events that educate the local population. Other events include county fairs, the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo, gun shows, parades, and any event where we can set up a table, reach out to people and display hope to Coloradans that there is a better way to save our nation than yelling at the people on TV.
The Followup Team is the welcoming committee. After the District Captain, Events Coordinator, Veterans Coalition, and all other willing volunteers show up to the public events and gather petitions and volunteer signups, the Followup Team does what its namesake describes: they followup with the people who signed up to volunteer. They get new volunteers started and set them up for success.
The State Content Writer can get their creative or historical talents going by writing for the Convention of States website, statewide emails and current event stories that supporters love to read about. These stories can get carried and seen by other states across the country. We all support each state's efforts towards victory, however, Convention of States values local over national and it is most important to us that we support and inform our own state and districts.
The Veterans Coalition Team is a much earned members-only coalition within Convention of States. However, the VC is the most cooperative (and the largest) group of active COS volunteers. They work with all of us, set up events, invite everybody to their Vets meetings to hear their plans and projects and they consistently set up Convention of States to succeed in Colorado. If you are a Veteran, be sure to check the “I am a Veteran” box when you volunteer for any role and you are automatically qualified to be a part of the COS Veterans Coalition.
District Captains are the leaders closest to the people in each district. This role needs a diligent patriot who is excited about recruiting Convention of States support. You will have access to contact COS supporters in your district. You notify them about local events, town halls with your district legislators, trips to the State Capitol in Denver and writing letters to legislators to support the COS Resolution. These are all necessary grassroots actions that make a difference during the legislative season and in every season. District Captains are our greatest resource that will carry us to victory.
We want to have every district in Colorado covered by an active District Captain so if you’re interested, sign up here. The more Captains we have in Colorado, the bigger grassroots response we can build up.
You should now have a better idea about what it means to volunteer for Convention of States. I hope you do. Grassroots is a real foundation of people who get real results. We’re working our way up to accomplishing the goal; we’re catching up with the other states that have passed the Resolution. Our numbers are growing. We want you to identify as one of us and we want you to make history with us.
Take Action.
