What One Volunteer Can Do

Published in Blog on October 21, 2021 by Cynthia Kisby

Do your conversations with friends and neighbors eventually lead to disbelief over the state of our country?

  • Illegal immigrants pouring across the border.
  • Cancelling the Keystone pipeline that allowed energy independence.
  • Abandoning U.S. citizens in a hostile foreign territory.
  • Encouraging six-year-old children to think that their biology is optional.
  • Teaching students to favor people based on skin color not character.
  • Paying people to stay home rather than work towards personal responsibility.

If you wonder what one person can do, here are some ideas.

Stand up for our historical virtues

Trust in yourself and your own assessment of right and wrong. If common sense tells you shoplifting is wrong, don’t be cowed into submission that it’s OK because people say they have been oppressed. Call out immorality and stupidity that flies in the face of common sense. Oppose mob majority rule.

Get smart, don’t be intimidated by experts

Where does this 100+ years-of-nonsense come from? Way back in the early 1900s, ivy league intellectuals who studied in Europe began the undoing of our founding American principles.

Our Declaration of Independence says America is founded on natural rights given to all humans by God. Progressives like Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt believed differently. They believed rights are granted to certain groups by society via government.

The elite of the New Deal argued that only government agencies of scientifically trained experts could make decisions for We the People. Hence bureaucracy and regulations were born and have now grown into the monster that feeds on our tax dollars and controls every aspect of our lives.

Show up and speak up by joining COS

No one wants to be a lone crusader. Align with kindred spirits like volunteers in the Convention of States who are willing to act to protect the American Republic. Online meetings occur several times a week but most important is Tuesday Training at 9 pm.

Join in, get to know people, and organize your own little gathering. Have neighbors over to discuss ideas. Support others who are attending school board meetings. Ideas abound on the COS site.

Petition signerDid you know that COS Florida has a SLACK channel all about block walking? Within the COS University Vol 100 course is a block walking module. It’s a series of short videos with detailed how-to steps. There’s even a script, just a few sentences, that makes reaching out a very easy job to tackle. Prepare now so that you are ready when Florida COS leaders put out the call.

Another idea, as a private citizen not a COS volunteer, is to plan early to be either an election worker or a poll watcher. Learn about your local process by finding your own Supervisor of Elections web page. For example, the Seminole County site describes the different duties, expectations, training, and includes more general election information.

You and I know that Article V provides a safe, legal way to stop the current unconstitutional craziness. Our mission is to help others understand that we can use the Constitution to lobby for term limits, a balanced budget, and decisions made through law not bureaucratic fiat.

Do Something

Benefits of getting off the couch might include exercise, fresh air, making new friends, feeling good about serving a higher purpose, and best of all, hope for the future. Go get ‘em!
