As of to date, 19 states have passed the COS resolution and we are energetically working toward that 34 mark which will trigger a Convention of States. As we do, many in our passed states may begin to wonder if their contributions are no longer needed.
But staying engaged - even once your state has passed the resolution - is extremely important.
The Convention of States Project’s mission is to build a self-governing army of grassroots activists. Restoring a culture of self-governance is absolutely vital to our cause both pre- and post-convention.
We are attempting to call a convention for the purpose of giving power back to the people, but if the people aren’t prepared to responsibly use that newfound freedom, it’ll certainly go to waste - that’s why we must begin preparing ourselves today.
Even if your state has already passed the COS resolution, that doesn’t we can’t use your help. Far from it! Volunteers in these states are hard at work educating their fellow citizens about Article V and the amending process, readying the masses for the day when the first-ever Convention of States finally becomes a reality.
“Now is the time for the past states to stand en masse, speak en masse, and show up en masse. We have only just begun this reawakening and it only gets stronger if we, the past states, get stronger,” said John Taylor of the Tennessee state team.
“Once a state is passed,'' explained Texas’ Erika Hatfield, “that’s just the beginning. One day, we’re going to get to a Convention of States and when we do, amendments are going to be proposed and those amendments… have to come back to the states to be ratified. For that, we need a large grassroots army that is educated, engaged, and active.”
