WATCH: VA delegate, COS supporter TAKES DOWN socialism

Published in Blog on September 23, 2020 by Article V Patriot

Want to see an epic takedown of the radical socialist agenda?

Look no further than Convention of States supporter and Virginia state delegate Nick Freitas.

He challenged the defenders of socialism who claim that conservatives in the United States deny the wrongs committed by our country in the past. Everyone acknowledges that the U.S. government treated African Americans and Native Americans badly. Everyone agrees that we've become enmeshed in foreign conflicts that we shouldn't be in.

But pointing out our country's mistakes isn't a defense of socialism.

On the contrary, Freitas argues, it's socialist countries that deny the atrocities they've committed and work to put down those who aren't in power.

Freitas and the Convention of States team in Virginia have worked tirelessly to implement the one tool that can put down the threat of socialism for good: an Article V Convention of States.

A Convention of States has the power to propose constitutional amendments that limit -- once and for all -- the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government.

Without the permission to dictate our daily lives, the federal government will be powerless to implement anything close to the socialist agenda. A Convention of States is the tool the Founders gave us to push back against an overreaching, abusive, socialist government, and it's time we used it.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
