WATCH: Mark Meckler and Tucker Carlson discuss How Many More? Border Rally

Published in Blog on April 24, 2023 by Jakob Fay

Convention of States Action President Mark Meckler joined “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Friday to tell the popular Fox News host about the upcoming How Many More? Rally at the Texas Capitol.

“Fentanyl [is]... now the leading cause of avoidable death among people under 45 in this country,” Tucker began the segment. “It’s here because our southern border is open. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have died because of this. Nobody in Washington cares.”

He then introduced an upcoming rally in Austin, organized by Convention of States, at which the American people will demand that Texas leaders take action to end the humanitarian crisis at the border.

“What I hope you see is thousands of people flooding in from all over Texas and all over the country,” said Mark. “Folks are coming together to expose the real truth of this problem. The problem is of a magnitude much greater than is mostly being reported on television…. Hundreds of thousands of people dead from fentanyl, right now it’s 70,000 a year, one in every seven minutes; thirty percent of women, at least, being raped as they come up and into this country; young children being sold into sexual slavery. So what we’re going to do is we’re going to tell the truth about what’s going on. We’re going to tell that truth to the American people broadly.”

Watch the rest of Mark’s interview below.

Recent polling reveals that overwhelming majorities of voters are frustrated about America’s border crisis and hold the federal government responsible. Unfortunately, as the crisis steadily worsens, Washington has utterly failed to act, watching, arms crossed. Polling shows that the American people have decided it is time for the states to take up the mantle and do what D.C. simply refuses to do.

At the rally, we will demand that Texas lawmakers take several critical steps to save our nation, including declaring an invasion of our southern border, defining Mexican cartels as terror organizations, seizing cartel bank accounts and assets, and establishing a Texas Border Defense Unit to protect Texans.

It’s time to end what Mark rightfully called an “invasion of historic proportions.” We cannot wait for the federal government to do it—the states must stand up.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
